In at least 11 states, employers are banned from asking candidates for information about their current or prior pay as this perpetuates pay inequality. If an employee was underpaid by a prior employer and disclose this pay, then they could continue to receive low wages. As a current or future Best Place to Work employer, this is not a data point that you want to use anyway in order to be competitive in attracting and retaining top talent.
