??? Community input and engagement is integral to any project’s success. Here, a local farming community participating in an agroforestry project, co-developed with our partners at Trees for the Future, is electing a grievance focal point for their region. ???? ?? It’s part of a deep engagement process that aims to ensure local communities are informed, provide consent, and maintain important controls. ?? Learn more: https://lnkd.in/gjdBk_gJ

?? ?? ?? Community benefits aren’t just a “nice-to-have” — they’re a critical component of any carbon project’s success. Without favorable long-term social outcomes, any climate change mitigation achieved likely won’t be sustainable. That’s why making a positive impact on local communities is one of the three core impact pillars that guide all our work. ???????? ?? Learn more: https://lnkd.in/gjdBk_gJ

?? Can a carbon project be called “high-quality” if it ignores the local communities affected? ?? We sure don’t think so. For any project to be truly impactful, local communities must be deeply engaged and rightfully enriched through benefits and revenue. ?? In this blog, Catona’s Megan Bomba explains how our Community Benefits Principles are the blueprint for successfully delivering a diversity of dividends to the people on the front lines of climate action — across our investment portfolio. ?? ??Check out the blog to learn more about how our projects benefit local communities: https://lnkd.in/gjdBk_gJ

?? No one said building a high-integrity carbon market would be easy — but we’ve got to get it right, as Catona’s Chief Carbon Officer Robert Lee discussed with OPIS, A Dow Jones Company. With demand for credits expected to soar despite scarce short-term supply, our focus must nonetheless remain on developing high-quality carbon projects that take their impact on the local environment and communities into account. ?? ??
