Ana Kwiatkowski is a senior double major in Politics and Economics. She has had an internship position at Legal Services Corporation since January. She hopes to stay in DC after graduation and work in consulting. Here's more about Ana and her recent internship: "I've worked at Legal Services Corporation since January and learned so much about the practical application of civil legal aid! Civil legal aid is a crucial aspect of non-profit work, providing legal resources to thousands of veterans, low-income individuals, and families across the United States. I have thoroughly enjoyed researching topics, planning events, and supporting the Exec team in any way possible!"
Meet Caragh Curren! Caragh is a Fullbright Foreign Language Teaching Assistant (FLTA) at CUA. She teaches Irish in our Modern Languages and Literature Department. She has put on various events, cultural tables, and is a member of CUA Gaels. Here's a little more about Caragh's experience at CUA: "I love teaching Irish at the Catholic University of America because it gives me a chance to share my culture and language with eager conscientious students. It's a great way to connect with others and help them appreciate the richness of Irish heritage. Being in a university setting allows for engaging discussions and exploring themes like identity and communication, which I’m really passionate about!"

Today, I took my Children's Literature class to visit a school that embraces intentional diversity, with families from a variety of backgrounds and ethnicities. My students will be reading to the students at the District School. Jacqueline Pratt-Tuke did an incredible job sharing her vision for creating such a unique educational environment. Each of my students selected a book they wanted to read, and the students from the District School will read to them as well. The staff and teachers are diverse too! It was wonderful to see India Long today—I’m always so proud of her. For me, teaching is about providing my students with real-world experiences while incorporating lessons on fostering a sense of belonging in every classroom. https://lnkd.in/eD9Q3mEi

In the wake of the election, it's abundantly clear that immigration and border policy will continue to be extremely relevant - and polarizing - in U.S. politics. Next Tuesday, Nov 12, I will be speaking at the Cleveland Park Library about what immigration history can tell us about our efforts to "control" the border. I'd love it if you'd join. I'll be discussing ideas from a class I taught this semester, which will inform a book I'm writing. So, please come and think with me! Thanks to American Women for International Understanding for the invitation, and I hope to see you next Tuesday.
