“Maybe it’s just not going to happen for me,” Ayesha once thought about the ideal of homeownership set by her parents. Divorce and crushing student loan debt made it seem impossible. Today, empowered by housing and financial counseling from Commonwealth Catholic Charities, the proud mother of two lives in her dream home. “Wow, I did do this,” she says. “I did accomplish this.” https://bit.ly/3BJX723

Working to Reduce Poverty in America
关于我们
Catholic Charities USA (CCUSA) is the national membership office for Catholic Charities agencies nationwide, providing help and creating hope for millions of people a year, regardless of their religious, social, or economic background. #WeAreThere CCUSA only fills jobs that are listed on our Careers page (https://www.catholiccharitiesusa.org/about-us/careers/) and all career-related email communications will be conducted from a verified CCUSA email domain (@CatholicCharitiesUSA.org). CCUSA will never ask candidates to share personally sensitive information (Social Security number, bank accounts, etc.) during the interview process, and CCUSA will never request any payment from candidates in connection with a job application. CCUSA provides leadership and support for the work of local agencies in their efforts to reduce poverty, support families, and empower communities. The mission of Catholic Charities is to provide service to people in need, to advocate for justice in social structures, and to call the entire church and other people of good will to do the same.

“I am passionate to help people,” said Daniela, who with her husband Juan Pablo completed the Latinos in Finance program at Catholic Charities, Diocese of Nashville. Both now work as bank tellers. The program is a collaboration of CCUSA and UnidosUS (WeAreUnidosUS). We celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month and workers like Daniela and Juan Pablo.

This Hispanic Heritage Month, we celebrate Catholic Charities of Southeast Michigan (CCSEM) La Casa Amiga Community Program, a collaboration between CCUSA and UnidosUS (WeAreUnidosUS). “It got me ready and built my confidence to apply to jobs,” said Sylvia, one of 17 graduates from the first cohort of the Latinos in Finance initiative that trains bilingual speakers for the financial services field.

“The program changed my future,” said Maria-José, a graduate of the Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Washington Bank Sales Representative Training Program, a collaboration of CCUSA and UnidosUS. The national Latinos in Finance program trains bilingual bank tellers in customer service and the financial sector. Maria-José now works at a national bank with the skills she gained. Happy Hispanic Heritage Month!

How does Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Oklahoma City approach mental health services? The answer is rooted in Catholic Social Teaching and a deep understanding of the needs of its community. Monica Palmer, senior director of clinical and legal services, explains during a plenary on the mental health crisis — and the ways in which Catholic Charities agencies can continue to respond to it — at last month's Annual Gathering. #WorldMentalHealthDay
-
Nearly 23% of those in the United States struggle with mental illness. The Catholic Church recognizes that all are made in God's image and likeness, and all are beloved children of God, a God of healing and hope. Through its National Catholic Mental Health Campaign, the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops seeks to raise awareness around mental health issues and destigmatize mental illness. Beginning today, #WorldMentalHealthDay, and ending on October 18, the Feast of St. Luke, patron of health care, pray with us in solidarity with those suffering from mental health challenges, as well as family, friends and health care professionals who are caring for people in need: https://bit.ly/3NkubzV
