Participants from “Encounter 2025” Junior High Youth Rally put together over 500 bags of fruit for Catholic Charities of Northeast Kansas. It is such a gift to have fresh fruit in our food pantries! These generous donations will benefit individuals and families in need in rural communities of our service area. We are so grateful!
关于我们
Founded in 1956, Catholic Charities of Northeast Kansas provides assistance to those in need by helping them help themselves. Our work strengthens both families and communities in the 21 counties we serve. We offer a wide range of specialized programs and services that span from the beginning to life’s end. We help with immediate survival needs including food, clothing and shelter. More than that, we educate, give guidance and provide resources that will result in long-term change. All services provided are based on need — not religion, race or nationality. Our vision is that our neighbors who are challenged by poverty of mind, body and spirit find the open door of Catholic Charities and are met with help, hospitality and hope. Our purpose is to animate the Gospel of Jesus Christ by putting love into action through specialized programs and services for those in need.

Put #FaithIntoAction this Lent by helping Catholic Charities of Northeast Kansas feed the hungry! You can support our mission by volunteering at one of our Family Support Center (FSC) food pantries. FSC volunteers help with daily operations including keeping the pantry clean and shelves well-stocked. Volunteers also walk guests through the pantry ensuring they select the designated amount of food. They also provide help making healthy food choices. Become a Blast Class volunteer with our English Language Learning (ELL) program! The 8–12-week curriculum is designed specifically for students from a preliterate background and helps launch them into basic literacy, along with providing the study skills they’ll need for class. Blast Class volunteers receive thorough training and even get to shadow a staff teacher before taking on their own student, so it’s great for new and experienced volunteers alike! Poverty and unemployment, lack of affordable housing, chronic health conditions and racism and discrimination are all causes of poverty leading to food insecurity, which the USDA defines as a lack of consistent access to food. Addressing food insecurity is a top priority at Catholic Charities of Northeast Kansas. We are so grateful for our Atchison Catholic schools! Saint Benedict Catholic School’s second grade class recently donated 85 pounds of food and took a tour of our Atchison Family Support Center (FSC) food pantry to learn how Catholic Charities of Northeast Kansas serves communities in need. The school also provided our FSC with more donations, including 373.5 pounds of food, household and hygiene items.
