During Read Across America Week, the Catholic Charities' Resident Services team hosted a special event at our Mesquite Terrace location, thanks to a generous donation of children's books from Changing Hands Bookstore! We were thrilled to provide free books, bookmarks, crayons, and resources on the benefits of reading to our community residents. A huge thank you to Changing Hands Bookstore for helping us promote literacy and encourage a lifelong love of reading.

We are excited to celebrate the grand opening of our newest Westside Head Start campus in Tolleson! Our Westside Head Start program is committed to building strong foundations for lifelong learning. We welcomed families and community members for a first look at the new classrooms, where children will receive year-round, quality early childhood education that supports the whole family. During this National Catholic Sisters Week, we would like to share how blessed we are to have had Sr. Betty Banja serving at Catholic Charities since 2017. She is from the order of The Sacred Heart of Jesus, an order dedicated to pastoral evangelization and education among those in need. Sr. Betty’s new mission with us has been promoting our faith-based mission, life-affirming values, and commitment to all the vulnerable clients we serve.
