“As the visions during the night continued, I saw one like a Son of man coming, on the clouds of heaven; when he reached the Ancient One and was presented before him, the one like a Son of man received dominion, glory, and kingship; all peoples, nations, and languages serve him. His dominion is an everlasting dominion that shall not be taken away, his kingship shall not be destroyed.” - Daniel 7:13-14

Consecration of the Election to the Blessed Virgin Mary By Father Chad Ripperger, founder of Catholic Society of the Most Sorrowful Mother in Denver, (contemporized English Version), originally posted at dmdiocese.org “Mary Immaculate, living tabernacle of the Divinity, where the eternal Wisdom lies hidden to be adored and served by angels and men, Queen of Heaven and of Earth, beneath whose sway are subject all things that are lower than God, Patroness of the United States of America, sorrowful and mindful of our own sinfulness and the sins of our nation, we come to you, our refuge and hope. Knowing that our country cannot be saved by our own works and mindful of how much our nation has departed from the ways of thy Son, we humbly ask that you would turn your eyes upon our country to bring about its conversion. Give grace to the citizens of this land so that they will choose leaders according to the Sacred Heart of your Son, that His glory may be made manifest, lest we be given the leaders we deserve. Trusting in the providential care of God the Father and your maternal care, we have perfect confidence that you will take care of us and will not leave us forsaken. O Mary Immaculate, pray for us. Amen.” Photo: Coronation of the Virgin, by Diego Velázquez

Today the Church honors the Faithful Departed. We celebrate their fidelity in life and pray for their souls as they are purified before they enter the presence of our Lord. You can obtain a plenary indulgence for the souls in purgatory from November 1-8 by completing the following: 1. Go to a cemetery and pray for the departed souls 2. Devoutly visit a Church on All Souls Day and pray the Creed and Our Father 3. Go to Confession once during November 1-8 4. Receive Holy Communion in a state of grace 5. Pray one “Our Father” and one “Hail Mary” for the Pope Photo: All Souls’ Day by William-Adolphe Bouguereau

Today the Church celebrates all saints, known and unknown. All Saints Day began in the Western Church when Pope Saint Boniface IV dedicated the Roman Pantheon to the Blessed Virgin Mary and all martyrs in 609. Pope Saint Gregory III consecrated a Vatican chapel in dedication to All Saints and officially made November 1st the feast day. Pope Gregory IV then made it an observance for the whole Church. It is a holy day of obligation. Photo: The Forerunners of Christ with Saints and Martyrs by Fra Angelico

On this day 107 years ago, October 13, 1917, a huge crowd with some estimates at around 70,000 people gathered in Fátima, Portugal, to witness a prophecy made by three shepherd children. The children, Lúcia Santos and Francisco and Jacinta Marto, said that the Virgin Mary would appear and perform miracles. Witnesses reported that for approximately ten minutes, after a period of rain, they saw incredible solar activity in which the sun appeared to dance across the sky, fall towards the Earth, and emit various colors of light. The clothes of witnesses which had been soaking, and the muddy ground suddenly became dry. A reporter for Lisbon newspaper, O Dia, wrote: “The silver sun, enveloped in the same gauzy grey light, was seen to whirl and turn in the circle of broken clouds [.. The light turned a beautiful blue, as if it had come through the stained-glass windows of a cathedral, and spread itself over the people who knelt with outstretched hands [...] people wept and prayed with uncovered heads, in the presence of a miracle they had awaited. The seconds seemed like hours, so vivid were they.”

JOIN US TODAY! This is our second time praying the Rosary online and again on First Friday. If you’re not familiar with the First Friday devotion, we would like to familiarize you. In 1675, Jesus appeared to St. Margaret Mary Alacoque and promised that whoever will honor His Most Sacred Heart by receiving Holy Communion on 9 consecutive FIRST FRIDAYS, they would receive these 12 promises: 1. I will give them all the graces necessary for their state of life. 2. I will give peace in their families. 3. I will console them in all their troubles. 4. I will be their refuge in life and especially in death. 5. I will abundantly bless all their undertakings. 6. Sinners shall find in my Heart the source and infinite ocean of mercy. 7. Tepid souls shall become fervent. 8. Fervent souls shall rise speedily to great perfection. 9. I will bless those places wherein the image of my Sacred Heart shall be exposed and venerated. 10. I will give to priests the power to touch the most hardened hearts. 11. Persons who propagate this devotion shall have their names eternally written in my Heart. 12. In the excess of the mercy of my heart, I promise you that my all powerful love will grant to all those who will receive Communion on the First Fridays, for nine consecutive months, the grace of final repentance: they will not die in my displeasure, nor without receiving the sacraments; and my Heart will be their secure refuge in that last hour. The Rosary isn’t a requirement of receiving the 12 promises but it is efficacious nonetheless. Our Blessed Mother asked for its daily recital and our Nation and world desperately need Mary’s intercession. In order to complete the devotion: 1. Receive Holy Communion on each First Friday; 2. The nine Fridays must be consecutive; 3. They must be made in honor and in reparation to His Sacred Heart. Next to the final Sacraments, this and perhaps the five First Saturdays are the closest assurance of salvation a Catholic can embrace. How can we possibly commend them enough? Happy Feast of Saint Francis of Assisi! He is a saint known not just for his love of animals, but his close conformity to Christ in physical and spiritual poverty. His love for Christ was so intense that he received the stigmata, the marks resembling the wounds of our Lord. Today let us offer up some small sacrifice for Jesus and practice some simple poverty. Happy Feast Day to one of our dear patron saints, Saint Therese of Lisieux. With an early death at the age of 24, she became the youngest Doctor of the Church! When she died, she promised to spend her heaven doing good on earth. The “Shower of Roses” she promised has become a powerful torrent in the Church since then. From Catholic Answers ???? Question: Why is St. Therese of Lisieux (1873–1897) a patron of aviators? Answer: In the early years of the twentieth century, St. Therese’s spiritual testament Story of a Soul became a sensation in Europe and, later, around the world, bringing Therese a legion of devotees. Students of Therese’s life would eventually call this period the “storm of glory,” because of all of the favors from heaven it was reported that Therese obtained for those petitioning her intercession. During this time, World War I broke out and many soldiers on both sides reported seeing visions of a young nun—Therese had not yet been canonized—comforting wounded men of various nationalities along the battle lines. In response to this, many soldiers began carrying pictures of Therese with them into battle. She became a special favorite of French pilots, and this is where her intercession for aviators began. #stthereseoflisieux #littleflower #october1st #therese #showerofroses #doctorofthechurch #frenchpilots #france #patronofaviators #catholicaviationassociation #catholic
