Thanks to all the volunteers who donated their Saturday to help manage invasive plant species here on Cathleen Stone Island! These events, called Stewardship Saturdays, are fun and engaging volunteer opportunities run by the National Park Service that focus on habitat restoration and citizen science projects. And these projects are run throughout the year not just on Cathleen Stone Island, but on islands and peninsulas throughout the Boston Harbor! What could be more awesome than witnessing a whale breaching right next to our island? ?? Our staff and students were treated to an unforgettable moment as this calf made a surprise appearance in the Boston Harbor, reminding us of the natural wonders surrounding us here on Cathleen Stone Island. #WhaleWatching #CathleenStoneIsland

What better way to beat the heat this summer than to head out on a 14-day kayaking expedition in the Boston Harbor? ????♀? These students from?Summer Search Boston would definitely agree! And it wasn't just kayaking--they also tried their hands at tricky ropes courses, learned how to made "wilderness pancakes," met a seal named Antonio, became NPS Junior Rangers on two islands, and even woke up before sunrise to tackle a 13-mile paddle on their last day. Through it all, they learned new things about themselves and each other, expanded their comfort zones, and made some incredible memories that they will carry with them for a lifetime.
