Since 1996, Catherine’s Health Center (Catherine’s) has provided access to high quality, affordable, and compassionate health care to all. After being designated a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) in 2020, Catherine’s continues to expand services and scope by offering integrated and comprehensive primary medical, dental, and behavioral health services across four clinics and seven place-based sites. Catherine’s primary medical care includes substance use disorder treatment, infectious disease prevention and management, women’s health services, and psychiatry. Through a culture of team-based care and no missed opportunities, we work with partners toward our vision of a thriving community free of health inequities.

  • The news is out! This summer, Catherine's is excited to welcome a new member to the care team.... A medical van! Our high quality care is going mobile, which allows Catherine's to bring compassionate services directly to where people need them. The van will move from location to location throughout Grand Rapids, offering primary care, mental health services, preventative screenings, and treatment for substance use disorder. This will greatly reduce gaps in access for our unhoused patients and neighbors. We can't wait to share updates when the van is out in the community.     Catherine's Health Center is grateful to community health center champions Congresswomen Hillary Scholten and Haley Stevens for holding a press conference at Catherine's Health Center to bring attention to potential cuts to Medicaid. Over 60% of Catherine's patients rely on Medicaid for medical, dental, and mental health services that help them live, work, and thrive.?1 in 5 Americans depend on Medicaid to stay healthy. Cuts to Medicaid will result in poor health but will also negatively impact a person’s ability to go to work, attend school, and take care of their families. Over two-thirds of Medicaid recipients are employed. Medicaid helps people stay healthy, so they can work, care for their families, and succeed in life. A healthy population is a working population. When we are healthy, we can contribute to our economy and our community.?

  • At Catherine's Health Center we celebrate our values through staff recognition. Staff who embody the values of compassion, excellence, social justice, accountability, inclusion, and community are recognized throughout the year. At the end of the year, we award the Blue Door Award and the Orange Hat award to team members who are nominated by their peers. Debra Bossenbroek, FNP, received the Blue Door Award. Debra embodies Catherine’s mission. She goes above and beyond in providing compassionate and quality care to EVERYONE who walks through Catherine’s doors. We remember that Catherine’s Health Center started as a free clinic with one humble, blue door in a church basement.?That blue door was a beacon for access. While there are now multiple doors at Catherine’s, the symbolism of the blue door remains – open doors and open hearts Elizabeth Anastasia, PhD received the 2024 Orange Hat Award. Beth embodies a culture of No Missed Opportunities. The Orange Hat Award is named after a impactful interaction between a Catherine's provider and patient. The recipient of the award is proactive in engaging patients in care. Beth embraces patient-centered scheduling and goes above and beyond in coordinating care for our patients. This person knows that every positive interaction with a patient will reinforce?trust and relationship-based care.

    Big things are happening at Catherine's Health Center! We received a sizeable federal grant to expand our behavioral health offerings with a special focus on the unhoused. We are hiring a full-time team dedicated to the unhoused. This team will provide street medicine, along with medical and behavioral health services in place-based settings (churches, shelters, etc). We are looking for DYNAMIC individuals who are committed to health equity. We are recruiting for an Advanced Practice Provider and a LMSW with SUD certification to join this incredible project. Advanced Practice Provider - This position will provide health services to youth at Harrison Park Academy in GRPS and to unhoused youth at AYA. Behavioral Health Provider - This position will provide behavioral health services to youth at Crossroads Alternative High School in Kentwood Public Behavioral Health Provider - This position will provide behavioral health services to youth at Harrison Park Academy in GRPS.
