This week at Jacksonville Classical Academy, CAP Teaching Artist Fellow in Visual Arts, Lindsay Bowyer, introduced the students to artist David Hockney and discussed his landscape works featuring unique perspectives, bright colors and patterns. The group talked about the horizon, a winding road, and elements (trees, houses) of descending sizes to show distance. Students were excited to dive into the paints, Lindsay did a great job reminding them of their rule, “draw it light until you get it right.” Once students finished their sketches, they moved on to adding bright and bold paints. There were conversations about complementary and contrasting colors, techniques to ensure they could capture detail and the encouragement to branch out and make the sky pink or the grass blue - they had freedom to choose and they did not disappoint. We can’t wait to see the finished pieces! #TheArtsAddUp #CAPkidsjax
