Today, we shine a spotlight on three trailblazers whose pioneering achievements have shaped the landscape of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. ?? Lisa Meitner: Often referred to as the "mother of nuclear physics," Lisa Meitner played a pivotal role in the discovery of nuclear fission. Despite facing gender barriers in the male-dominated field of physics, her collaboration with Otto Hahn led to the groundbreaking realization of the fission process, laying the groundwork for nuclear energy and the atomic bomb. It's worth noting that despite her significant contributions, Meitner was not awarded the Nobel Prize for her work. ?? Rosalind Franklin: Renowned for her groundbreaking work in X-ray crystallography, Rosalind Franklin made invaluable contributions to the understanding of the molecular structures of DNA, RNA, viruses, and coal. Her iconic Photo 51, capturing the helical structure of DNA, was crucial in Watson and Crick's elucidation of the DNA double helix, although her role was often overshadowed. ??
