Last month, I had the honor of speaking at an International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP) event here in Miami hosted by Global Ties Miami and the U.S. Department of State. I’m deeply humbled and grateful to the entire Global Ties team and the Department of State for inviting me back to share this message with leaders from around the world, alongside inspiring local champions like Mayor Daniella Levine Cava, Jane Gilbert, and rising young climate powerhouse Amanda Di Perna. This gathering was a powerful reminder (and call to action) that climate justice is not about top-down policy and decision-making. Real solutions are rooted in honoring Indigenous cultures and practices that repair past and pervasive harms. It’s about grounding our work in the love, wisdom, and lived experiences of frontline community members who carry the seeds essential for transformation. Special shout out to my Catalyst Miami family. Thankful for the gift of our walking the talk. We know that centering the most impacted in decision-making honors the generational wisdom and power essential to healing both our planet and our people. Gatherings like this reinvigorate me with hope—a hope that feels especially essential in a time such as this. I’m grateful to know we’re building "Beloved Communities” around the world-- where equity, well-being, and sustainability intersect. #SimplyGrateful
