As Americans gather with loved ones this #Thanksgiving, we recognize that it might not always be easy. This time may be difficult and uncertain for many. Women and people of color, in particular, may be having different experiences rooted in their intersectional identities. This holiday, remember to give yourself the same grace and care you extend to others. You are not alone. ?? If you need resources for talking across differences this #Holiday season, we recommend the following: ?? https://ow.ly/9RFl50UceOp

November is National Native American Heritage Month in the US. And today we celebrate #NativeAmericanHeritageDay. Established for many reasons, this day recognizes Native Americans' contributions and hardships, as well as a chance to understand the history, traditions and culture of this resilient group. Indigenous communities in the US and around the world have long endured significant challenges and injustices. During a panel at #CatalystHonours, Myan Marcen-Gaudaur (Director, Social Impact & Reconciliation at Scotiabank) brought attention to the importance of truth in the reconciliation process. Joined by Richel Davies, CPHR (Director, Inclusion of Indigenous Peoples, Scotiabank), Marcen-Gaudaur outlined what every organization—not just in Canada—should be doing to address 200 years of repression of Indigenous peoples. "The challenge of balancing career progression and parenthood weighs heavily on women. In a survey Catalyst fielded last year, 67% of women were concerned that their childcare responsibilities would negatively affect their career.” - Erin Souza-Rezendes(Vice President of Global Communications at Catalyst Inc.) Balancing caregiving and professional growth can seem like an impossible task for #Women, who continue to bear an outsized burden when it comes to caregiving. In a recent Forbes article, Christine Michel Carter spotlights benefits of investing in K-12 education for businesses and for working mothers as they juggle care responsibilities and career advancement. With the growing #Childcare crisis, working moms need systemic change both through public and private policy, and employers have a key role to play. Focusing on evidence-based strategies that create inclusive environments and support working parents results in a win-win. To read the Forbes article, visit: ?? https://ow.ly/stjY50Uax5p ForbesWomen

Today is Transgender Day of Remembrance. On this day and beyond, we honor the memory of trans and gender-non-conforming people whose lives were lost in acts of anti-transgender violence. This violence is rooted in discrimination. As we remember those lost, we must do more to create safe and inclusive spaces, especially at work, that recognize and address the barriers trans people face. Where to begin? Let's educate people at all levels across our communities and workplaces.
