关于我们
The mission of the Catalina Island Conservancy is to be an exemplary steward of Island resources through a balance of conservation, education and recreation. Through its ongoing efforts, the Conservancy protects the magnificent natural and cultural heritage of Santa Catalina Island, stewarding approximately 42,000 acres of land, 50 miles of rugged shoreline, an airport, and more than 200 miles of roads. Twenty miles from the mainland, the Island is a treasure trove of historical and archeological sites, and numerous rare and endangered animals and plants.

Each year, dozens of Catalina Island foxes are injured or killed on the road. Here are some ways to help keep them safe:? ? If you see a fox in the road, slow down, wait for it to move, or gently honk. ? Use emergency lights to alert oncoming traffic. To report an injured or deceased fox, call or text (310) 606-9424 with: - Your name and contact info - The fox's location - Any details about the situation (photos if possible) Remember, never try to move an injured fox. Your report helps our biologists respond quickly! #SlowDownForFoxSake

The Catalina Island Conservancy is proud to protect 88% of the 48,000 acres of Catalina Island and provide what may be the largest outdoor classroom in Los Angeles County. We are thrilled to share more about this new immersive outdoor experience, designed for Los Angeles County youth to adventure into our Island's wild lands. This annual event is made possible by a generous gift from the Hathaway Family and a special collaboration with the Boys and Girls Club of Metro LA. The young explorers, along with adult chaperones, had three days to trek, hike, snorkel, camp, make arts and crafts, and stargaze! Topping off the experience was a falconry lesson led by Dave Long! Talk about soaring to new heights. ?? Check out this video recap! Learning from nature and discovering the great outdoors has never been more fun!
