CASTEM and Yuji Sasaki, Vice Chairman of the NPO "Sadako Legacy." delivers the precision casting “SADAKO” to President Obama – A Symbol of Peace. On February 26th, CASTEM, proudly delivered SADAKO, a stainless-steel recreation of Sadako Sasaki’s origami crane, to former President Obama. This marks a significant milestone in our mission to preserve history through cutting-edge manufacturing. Who was Sadako Sasaki? Sadako Sasaki was a young girl exposed to radiation from the Hiroshima bombing at the age of two. She later developed leukemia and, during her illness, folded over 1,000 paper cranes, believing in the legend that doing so would grant her wish for recovery. Today, her cranes are a global symbol of peace and hope. Why CASTEM Created SADAKO Sadako’s original paper cranes are fragile and few remain. Using 3D scanning and precision casting, CASTEM transformed one of her last folded cranes into a stainless steel replica, making it permanent/shareable symbol of peace. The first serial number, No.000 was reserved for President Obama in recognition of his efforts toward global unity.
