CASL Joins Youth Advocacy Day! This week, CASL staff participated in Youth Advocacy Day in Springfield, IL, where they met with legislators to advocate for Out of School Time (OST) programs. Every young person deserves access to tutoring, academic support, and cultural enrichment beyond school hours. CASL is advocating for increased state funding to expand and improve after-school programs across Illinois. Learning extends beyond the classroom, and it is essential that the state prioritizes and funds these critical opportunities for youth development. CASL Advocacy Day in Springfield! On Wednesday, CASL staff traveled to Springfield to advocate for crucial funding to support our surrounding community. With Illinois budget season in full swing and ongoing federal funding uncertainties, it is more important than ever that our state prioritizes funding for low-income households, immigrant individuals and families, and underserved populations. We were honored to meet with Senator David Koehler and Rep Jennifer Gong-Gershowitz who took the time to hear our concerns as we urged for continued investment in vital services such as senior care, behavioral health services, Medicaid, and after school programs. We also spoke with the office of Rep. Theresa Mah, Ph.D. and Speaker Welch. Their support is invaluable in ensuring that the communities we serve receive the resources they need to thrive. ??Your voice matters!
