Last week, around 100 industry representatives from around the world, including Director of Whiskey, Sara Havens, gathered in London to judge the final leg of the World of Whiskies Awards. ? The winners will be revealed at the award ceremony on February 13th in Louisville, Kentucky. Big changes in cask investment laws are set to take effect in March 2025, making it easier for private investors to own more whiskey casks and trade them like wine investments. Whiskey cask investment is coming into sharper focus as an alternative asset: It's tangible, much more accessible than other alt assets, and starting to get serious investor interest among enthusiasts and non-drinkers alike for its financial staying power. The global whiskey market is worth nearly $70 billion and?is projected to hit $125 billion?by 2032, according to recent findings from KPMG. Of all luxury asset classes, KPMG found that whiskey is the most popular, with 27% of respondents saying they planned to invest in whiskey in the next 3 years, as compared to art (26%), jewelry (20%), wine (15%) and classic cars (14%).
