Growing up on a rural Missouri farm, Trisha Wells learned early the importance of looking out for neighbors in need. That training has continued throughout her life, which is one of the reasons she volunteers to do free tax preparation for CASH. She not only volunteers, she helped initiate University of Maryland Baltimore County’s free tax prep program in 2015 - it’s grown to serve about 400 people yearly. Describing UMBC’s endeavor as a “Stone Soup”, over 15 areas of the university are involved, from Residence Life to the Career Center to the Economics Department - A coalition not unlike CASH! She works with student volunteers to develop their soft skills so they learn and grow. A self-described “Lucky Person”, she remains committed to making a positive difference in the lives of the taxpayers they serve, as well as students. Do you want to make a difference, too?? Money Power Day 2024 was a resounding success! With the dedicated support of 18 volunteers, we empowered over 57 families by addressing their financial questions and providing crucial insights on homeownership, small business management, college education, and beyond.
