November has been a very eventful month so far! Here’s a recap of all the places CASE staff went to just last week alone: #1: We a table at the STEM Epo in Hampton Roads, introducing youth and their parents to CASE and our programs. #2: Our table at JMU’s Broader Impacts and Community Engagement Resource Fair with JMU Research, Economic Development and Innovation (REDI). #3: Staff traveled to Williamsburg to attend the VAST 2024 Conference! #4: We hosted a renewable energy field trip in collaboration with JMU COE - College of Education. #5: Jon traveled to the nation’s capital to meet with partners on current and future projects. A lot is happening in energy education - maybe we'll see you at an event soon!

Earlier this month, JMU became the first Virginia university to adopt the Okanagan Charter to promote the well-being of students and faculty through campus-wide initiatives. Our friends from SustainJMU and JMU Student Government Association were there to represent student sustainability efforts, as well as a brilliant speech by SGA president Brielle Lacroix. We got to bring out our electric and hybrid vehicles for the Harrisonburg Solar Tour last week! We spent the afternoon helping drive folks around the Friendly City to visit solar installations and learn about local sun power?? Our executive director Alleyn Harned was also a stop on the tour to talk about electric bill savings and EV charging with clean energy. Thank you Center for the Advancement of Sustainable Energy (CASE) for putting on this event!

This year, in place of the Rocktown Energy Festival (REF), we decided to return to our origins and bring the ASES National Solar Tour to Harrisonburg on October 5th. The Solar Tour will be a casual, intimate event, offering an up-close look at how solar technology is used within our community. Don’t worry - Rocktown will be back in 2025.
