We're excited to announce that Cascadia Health has been awarded a workforce readiness grant from the Oregon Higher Education Coordinating Commission (HECC)! Via the grant, Cascadia Health and the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) Multnomah will lead two OHA-certified learning pathways—one for Peer Support Specialists (PSS), and one for Peer Wellness Specialists (PWS)—and will adapt the PSS curriculum for three culturally specific workforces (veteran, LGBTQIA+, and BIPOC communities). In all, we will make available five curricula, 10 total training sessions to certify 200 peers, and 20 hours of continuing education coursework to grow and help stabilize the adult mental health peer support workforce. ??
