Robust AI Agent use during Open Enrollment suggests giving employees more time and different resources to explore options could overcome challenges with employee plan utilization and satisfaction. Given that 53% of people regretted previous OE decisions, per a 2024 Equitable study, the potential impact is meaningful. +++ (Don't want to fill out the form to download the report? Comment below, and we'll send you a PDF.) +++ Cascade AI saw more questions asked of #AI Agents that were deployed earlier in the OE season, where the employer notified employees that they’d be able to get answers in advance of OE. And year-over-year question volume dramatically increased after AI Agents were brought in, eliminating the barrier of needing to talk to a human or send in an #HR ticket request. Inviting employees to ask OE questions earlier is often not practical for teams that rely on human responders busy preparing for OE itself, but an AI Agent can start answering questions as soon as health plan and benefits contracts are inked. One critical trend in Cascade AI’s new report? The high percentage of requests for direct health plan comparisons, like side-by-side breakdowns of premiums, out-of-pocket maximums, and network coverage. Some went farther to ask about how plans compare for specific health conditions. Another trend, just as crucial? Employees used their AI Agents to self-teach, asking questions like “what is a deductible” and “how do I know?a doctor is in-network” — questions they might not ask a human HR agent. ? ? This readiness to compare plans and learn suggests employees want to make informed decisions and use their plans well—and that the same AI-driven resource can meet them wherever they are. Also notable on this graph: Point solutions weren’t prominent. A portion of those using #AI Agents didn’t offer them, but for those who did, such questions made up 10% of inquiries, and employees asked about point solutions both by brand name and generally (e.g. “fertility” or “mental health”)? ? Today, Cascade AI released a first-of-its-kind report on how employees used AI Agents during Open Enrollment 2024. This was the first season AI Agents were available to answer employee OE questions. What they asked was revealing--and suggests immediate takeaways for employers, health plans, digital health and point solution providers,?and other stakeholders in employee benefits.? ? Key takeaways include:? ? ?? Privacy Matters: AI offered a private space to ask complex, personal questions that live agents can’t. ?? AI Agents Overcome Low OE Literacy: By handling simple questions, AI reduced HR’s workload while empowering employees to make informed decisions. ? Employees Welcome Having More Time: They asked more questions when they had more time to do so. ?? More Support Doesn’t Mean More Work: AI Agents addressed 96.8% of OE questions? ? We love the insights from Eylul Kayin, partner at Cascade AI investor Gradient, in the latest TechCrunch Equity Podcast. Tune in to hear how Gradient is thinking about the #AI startup landscape, including its investment in Cascade AI.?Some key topics: ?? What makes an AI startup unique in an ever-changing landscape? ??? “A lot of the companies that we see are absolutely building at the cutting edge. However, their customers aren’t at the cutting edge.” How are AI startups helping customers accelerate and adapt to drive growth and ROI for both sides? ?? “As agentic workflows come in we’re going to be in a completely different universe where we can outsource end-to-end workflows, like fully replace labor — obviously in well defined terms. So the way you think about selling is going to be completely different because of the ROIs that you’re able to articulate very easily.” https://lnkd.in/drvUg9Cg #AIforHR #FutureOfWork #DigitalTransformation

NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang woke up a few more HR leaders when he declared earlier this month that IT departments will soon play the role of HR director to teams of #AI agents. “In a lot of ways,” he says 40 minutes into his CES keynote, “the IT department of every company is going to be the HR department of AI agents in the future. Today they manage and maintain a bunch of software … in the future they’ll maintain, nurture, onboard and improve a whole bunch of digital agents and provision them to the companies to use.” IT personnel on Reddit promptly weighed in, revealing that while many are in the thick of such a shift, some still see it as aspirational: ? “Maybe in 50 years” ? “[W]e aren’t anywhere close to that, we would feel it if we were getting close.” ? (Also, “Will I also be responsible for the AI's Christmas party?”) Of course, we’re not close.?We’re here. Agentic AI is already responding to HR inquiries, and it will do more—sooner than most people realize. As AI agents start to function more like “employees,” they’ll need training, monitoring, and performance management—just like humans do. That’s a huge opportunity for HR to lead the way in creating a hybrid AI+human workforce. But if HR teams don’t act quickly, they—and the cultures, best practices and comprehensive people strategies they lead--risk being sidelined and minimized amid paradigm-shifting conversations. A powerful call to action ? Embrace AI for all employees. Equipping your workforce with AI tools helps enhance human jobs, drives transformation across the business, and future-proofs HR.? ? Adopt an AI solution yourselves. HR needs real-time insights into workforce changes—both human and AI. Tools like Cascade AI (or any robust AI-powered platform) can help manage constant job evolution, map skill sets, and make data-driven decisions.? ? Elevate from process to strategy. Stepping up as strategic leaders of AI implementation will keep HR integral to organizational success, rather than handing the reins to IT. Jobs will continue to change—some will be replaced by AI, others enhanced—and it’s happening far faster than most people think. The question is, will HR be at the helm of that transformation, or watching from the sidelines? If we want this transition to succeed, HR must own it. It’s time to evolve—and the future is already here.?
