  • Today, CASA CEO, Dr. Angie and VP of Recruitment and Training, Leticia, attended The Future of San Antonio event, hosted by ChildrenAtRisk and Family Services,to engage in critical conversations about the challenges and opportunities facing our community. From addressing child well-being and education to strengthening support systems for families, this event brings together leaders committed to building a brighter future for San Antonio’s children. Community Advocate

Almost 5 years ago Blair Ortmann, CFRE messaged me and asked if I would be interested in joining the Child Advocates San Antonio (CASA) team. What I didn't know then was that decision would end up being the best career decision of my life. Over these last almost 5 years, I had the honor and privilege of telling the stories of our advocates, the resiliency of the kiddos we serve, and the amazing culture CASA has built. In that time, I also gained something, an appreciation for and a dedication to organizational values. CASA's values are not just some posters on the wall, they're practiced in every meeting, every decision, and every conversation. I promised myself that I would not leave CASA unless I found an organization that had the same dedication to their values. Well, friends, that time has come as I have accepted a Policy and Advocacy Manager position with Methodist Healthcare Ministries and will be starting in March. Each of you reading this (whether you know it or not) played a part in my journey to this point and will continue beyond. Before I sign off from CASA, let me take one final moment to tell you about the impact CASA has made on not only me, but our community. Countless kiddos in foster care have had a trusted adult stand alongside them, their only concern being the best interest of the children. I've seen advocates do remarkable things to help their CASA kiddos and I've seen CASA kiddos thrive through unimaginable circumstances. It is remarkable what a little faith in someone can do, and CASAs give more than just a little faith. This work isn't free, it needs you. So for one last time *one last time* from me consider making a gift to support our work. Our kiddos and advocates need you. https://lnkd.in/gNdVrrzm The work goes on, friends. Thank you all for your support.

  • Today, we welcomed 27 new CASA advocates into our mission of standing up for children in foster care! Each of these dedicated volunteers has committed to being there for a child who needs them, and we couldn’t be more excited to have them join our CASA family. But the need for advocates never stops. There are still children waiting for an advocate. If you’ve ever thought about making a difference, now is the time! Sign up for an info session at www.casa-satx.org and take the first step toward changing a child’s story. #CASAAdvocates #ChangeAChildsStory
