Last weekend, staff members Judy Simpson and Brad Zabelski had the opportunity to participate in the spectacular Holman100 event at the Freedom Mortgage Pavilion on the Camden waterfront. Celebrating 100 years in the automotive industry, the day featured an array of classic cars and entertainment by The Barenaked Ladies as well as headliner Carrie Underwood. With over 7,000 Holman employees and family members in attendance, it was quite a day! Brad and Judy also were fortunate to have the opportunity of a few minutes with Holman CEO Chris Conroy (pictured below) during which they thanked him for Holman’s continued support of the CASA mission. We are thrilled to have received the Core Mission Grant from Impact100 South Jersey. The $100,000 grant will expand CASA’s services in Camden County by recruiting additional volunteers to become advocates for children living in foster care, and communicating with the public about our mission to advocate for the best interests of children in the foster care system. Additionally, the funding will help provide a space for volunteers, staff, and the public to work together and collaborate on projects that benefit the children and their families. We know that every 45 seconds a child enters foster care. We know most children in foster care will have multiple foster homes, schools. Social workers and teachers rotate through their life, even while dealing with the trauma of abuse and neglect. We also know that having a CASA volunteer can help improve the odds for these children and make a life changing impact. ??
