Casa Dorinda recently hosted a winemaker dinner featuring Longoria Wines. We were honored to have Longoria's General Manager, Brent Wilson, host the event.? ? Our culinary team hand-curated a winemaker's dinner showcasing a perfectly paired cuisine menu with selected bottles of Longoria wine.? ? Residents feasted on a bruleed diver scallop, house-cured hamachi, oven roasted spiced duck leg, braised lamb with parmesan risotto, gremolata, tempranillo reduction and finished with an opera cake soaked in a coffee-cognac syrup buttercream, and chocolate glaze. The Casa Dorinda Entertainment Committee hosted a distinguished wine judging event, featuring Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon selections from the renowned vineyards of Santa Barbara and Napa Valley. The blind tasting followed the prestigious format of historic wine evaluations, including the legendary 1976 “Judgment of Paris” and other esteemed competitions led by wine critics and connoisseurs. A panel of 24 Casa Dorinda judges participated, with 12 evaluating the Chardonnay flight and 12 assessing the Cabernet Sauvignon. Everyone enjoyed observing how a formal judging was managed, especially viewing the results after the bottles were revealed. The Casa Dorinda Visual Arts Committee kicked off the year with an exhibition and reception featuring original paintings and drawings of the talented mother-daughter duo, resident Betty Fussell and her daughter, Tucky Fussell. ?
