In the mid 2000s, Colorado's tech ecosystem was reeling. The small number of scaleups were fighting for survival & the handful of venture firms were recovering from the Dot.Bomb and Telecom Meltdown. Then, in 2007, a few key events sparked a resurgence, leading to a steady launch of startups that would have very successful outcomes and an on-the-ground capital formation that would grow to include over 125 firms. On Tuesday, September 17th,? Dan Caruso will tell the story of Colorado’s emergence into a top tier geography for scaleups and share the surprising stats on the swelling of Colorado’s venture and growth equity ecosystem. On a related note, Dan Caruso will be launching his new podcast, which will feature the Colorado Innovators. One of the pods that will be dropped is with the partners of one of Colorado’s most intriguing venture firms.??

SpaceTech has launched and Colorado is a top three geography for innovation. We have one of the top Aerospace Programs in the world, the Air Force Academy and the Space Force headquarters. Seven of the largest Aerospace companies are either headquartered or have a major presence in Colorado. Our startup and scaleup ecosystem is on fire. Cody Moore of Caruso Ventures will present an overview of the landscape of Colorado’s SpaceTech industry, and Brad Bernthal, Executive Director - Silicon Flatirons Center of University of Colorado Boulder will host a panel with three of our scaleups: Chris Pearson, CEO of Agile Space Industries, Rachel Kelley, VP of Aircraft Development of Radia, Inc., and Matt Shieh, CEO and co-founder of Canopy Aerospace. Last month, Voyager Space announced it has been selected by Lockheed Martin to support the delivery of an advanced solid-propulsion subsystem for the U.S. Missile Defense Agency’s Next Generation Intercepter (NGI) - the nation’s new homeland missile defense capability. The NGI will protect the homeland against limited long range ballistic missile threats from rogue nations. The possibility of an international weekend trip is on the horizon! Boom Supersonic is on a mission to bring supersonic travel to the 21st century with their Overture Airliner. Earlier this week, Boom's XB-1 aircraft successfully executed it's second flight, retracting and extending its landing gear in flight for the first time while also successfully demonstrating a new digital stability augmentation system.
