  • Construction of the Parc Center for Disabilities Children's Services Center is underway! To help celebrate, the organization hosted a fun graffiti event for donors (to date) to embellish their contribution with a message or their name before sheetrock is installed. The Carter team is proud to partner with Parc in this transformational campaign, including Bob Carter CFRE, Kerry Bartlett, Martha Wells and Melissa McCoy, CFRE, who may be able to add "graffiti artist" to her resume! The $10 million "Raise the Roof" campaign to fund the building and help poise the organization for their next 70 years has already reached $7 million and has gone public this month.?Learn more about Parc's campaign here: https://lnkd.in/gsz_gHVC

  • Given the executive orders to pause or cut federal domestic grants and international aid, reducing your organization’s reliance on federal funds may sound like a good idea, but also a near-impossible, long-term task when you’re worried about keeping your life-saving programs running and the lights on. If your organization would like to lean more into the private sector while remaining well-positioned to leverage future federal funding opportunities, Chairman Bob Carter CFRE and Managing Director – Global Philanthropy Kristina Joy Carlson have put together some action steps you can consider taking RIGHT NOW in this month's blog post. What other strategies is your organization using to diversify funding while staying prepared to maximize future federal support? Let us know in the comments below! https://lnkd.in/eEY-JtKi

  • And another congratulations is in order for Javi Swinarski, a winner of the 2025 William R. Simms Award for Outstanding Youth in Philanthropy! It is our honor to be part of recognizing Javi and his inspiring work through SOCKtober Drives. Javi’s journey into philanthropy began during a fourth-grade service trip to John Carroll University, where he learned that socks are the most requested item by those experiencing homelessness. Inspired to take action, he launched the first SOCKtober Drive at Gilmour Academy, collecting 500 pairs of socks. Each year since, he has expanded the drive’s reach and impact, consistently setting and exceeding ambitious new goals. In 2024, Javi collected an astonishing 22,684 pairs of socks, partnering with several organizations in Ohio to distribute warm, clean, socks to those who need them most. In addition, he identified a partner in Ashville, North Carolina, to deliver 5,000 pairs of socks to the victims devastated by the impact of Hurricane Helene. Beyond the numbers, Javi has inspired others to take action, and his work doesn’t stop when the drive ends. “What makes Javi exceptional is that he learned about a situation that many people might have heard and thought, ‘That’s very sad,’ only to move on, believing there was nothing they could do about it. But not Javi,” said Bob Carter CFRE, Chairman of Carter. “He took action and has created more compassionate communities as a result. We are proud to honor Javi for his work ethic, collaborative spirit, and heart for humanity.” Read more about Javi and his amazing work at the link below.

The award honors young people who demonstrate outstanding civic and charitable responsibility and whose philanthropy encourages others to engage on a community, national, and/or international level. https://lnkd.in/e43xPQy6

  • Congratulations to Sydney Moss, a winner of the 2025 William R. Simms Award for Outstanding Youth in Philanthropy! We are so proud to help recognize Sydney and her work for biliary atresia (BA) research, the leading cause of liver transplants in children. Sydney was born with BA, and while awaiting her own transplant, she harnessed her ingenuity, drive, and personal musical talent to launch a fundraiser for BA, Concert for a Cause. After a successful transplant, Sydney has channeled the energy from what she describes as a second chance at life, to make the concert an annual event. This grassroots initiative has now raised nearly $60,000 for BA research at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, and Sydney isn't stopping there! "Sydney has demonstrated remarkable strength and resilience in the face of adversity,"?said Steve Higgins, CFRE, president and CEO of Carter.?"Rather than turning inward with a challenging and frightening disease, she focused her life force on changing the lives of other children and families affected by BA. It is truly an honor to help showcase Sydney’s generosity and achievements." Read more about Sydney and her incredible work at the link below.

  • Chairman Bob Carter CFRE and Managing Director Susan E Boyette had great meetings with trustees and community leaders in the great city of Anchorage, AK, this week with our partner, Anchorage Museum! The museum is a true gem in Alaska and for the world. The people of Anchorage?are justifiably proud of the museum programs and warm welcomers to their town, and the museum enjoys a special relationship and exchange with the Smithsonian Institution. Carter is honored to be a partner as plans are made for the future!
