Yesterday CVH attended the Remarkable Women's Luncheon hosted by The Record Courier - a wonderful event recognizing inspiring women who make a difference in our community. Carson Valley Health was well-represented with nominees in a variety of categories, and we are particularly proud that Wendy Blackburn, Primary Therapist, won the Remarkable Women Young Professional category! In the last year, Wendy Blackburn worked diligently to finish her supervisory intern hours and complete her exam to become a licensed clinical social worker establishing her long future filling a great need for mental health professionals in our community. She provides a wide array of mental health services for her clients, with her primary focus being teens. Congratulations to all the winners and nominees!! It’s no surprise they’re being celebrated as part of this group of truly remarkable women! This nomination is just another reflection of how they continue to inspire, lead, and make a difference. Join us in not only congratulating these amazing women, but all the nominees as they continue to inspire and make a difference.

This week, we had the honor of celebrating employees who reached significant milestones with CVH—5, 10, 15, 20, and even 25 years! These dedicated individuals are truly the backbone of our success. A heartfelt thank you to all our team members for the years of hard work, talent, and kindness you've contributed to making CVH the exceptional place it is today. We appreciate you!

Courtney Moore, CVH Development Director, and Heidi Saucedo, CVH Marketing Manager, recently facilitated a tour for the Douglas High School Jobs for American Graduates (JAG) class. They toured the hospital to discuss healthcare career options with the students, as well as the careers behind the scenes that helped build the new hospital and the technology inside it. The JAG teacher wrote "Thank you so much for providing a tour of the Carson Valley Health Hospital. The students were enthused beyond my expectations. Their feedback expressed admiration from the cath lab to the water fountain design. They said the spaciousness and attention to ergonomics made the hospital an exciting place to work. They were most appreciative of your hospitality and could not stop talking about their experience while waiting for the bell to ring. Please know that I am deeply grateful for the kindness and professionality shown to my students. They have renewed hope that they can achieve their dreams even if those dreams are not fully formed. You both also gave them assurance that this community, especially the hospital, truly cares about them and that they belong here." Carson Valley Health was happy to host these students and introduce them to a variety of local healthcare careers through a hands-on experience!

Nevada has given me so much: my education, my career, my wife, and two of our three children were born here. It's my turn to give back! It’s the most wonderful time of the year for community partnerships! Valage Senior Living at Carson Valley donated 200 teddy bears to the children who receive services with CVH. And to add to the cheer, 15 young people from @Boys-and-Girls-Club-of-Western-Nevada tied the gift tags, so children will receive a bear as a gift personalized with their name. These bears provide a sense of comfort to a child when they are in our Emergency Department, Urgent Care, Lab, Behavioral Health or Infusion departments. Thank you for helping make a frightening time less scary. Tamra Tsanos, Executive Director Valage Senior Living at Carson Valley, said “The Teddy Bear Initiative was created by Valage Senior Living as part of their mission to give back to the Minden community and foster meaningful connections ahead of their official opening in Spring 2025. Partnering with the Boys & Girls Club of Western Nevada and local hospitals, Valage’s goal is to bring comfort and joy to children, adults, and seniors in care settings. The kids from the Boys & Girls Club have been an incredible part of this effort – adding their personal touch by handwriting tags for the teddy bears. This partnership marks the beginning of a long-term collaboration between Valage and the Boys & Girls Club, as intergenerational programs will be a cornerstone of Valage’s monthly activities when the community opens.
