The legal landscape surrounding the Corporate Transparency Act (CTA) continues to shift. The CTA has been blocked and reinstated multiple times in less than a month. On December 23, 2024, the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals briefly lifted a nationwide injunction that had blocked the CTA. But just days later, on December 26, 2024, the Court reinstated the injunction, making the CTA unenforceable once again—suspending all related deadlines. Her reflections on whether judges and politicians should be able to cross into each other’s fields sparked engaging discussions among attendees. ✅ Wade Fulghum – Assistant Vice Chancellor for Research Commercialization at NC State, took us through “A Decade of Research Commercialization” at the university, offering a fascinating look into how innovative research can drive real-world change. His insights on turning discoveries into viable products resonated with those thinking about the intersection of law, business, and innovation. ✅ Zachary Kramer – Dean and Professor of Elon University School of Law, discussed the future of legal education, including the rise of online law schools, the upcoming changes to the Bar exam in 2026, and the growth of non-lawyer legal education like Masters in Law programs.
