Last night, we hosted the 6th annual Carr Cares Concert benefiting the Washington Jesuit Academy and the Washington School for Girls. We are incredibly proud to share that this year’s event raised record-high funds, reaching over $415,000, which will go directly towards WJA and WSG’s missions of advancing the educational opportunities for students in Washington, DC through their all-scholarship school programs. WJA and WSG are far more than schools—they are transformative spaces where students unlock their potential, grow as leaders, and receive the mentorship and support they need to thrive. With 99% of their alumni graduating high school, compared to the city average of 75%, these institutions are truly shaping the future of our community. Last night’s success would not have been possible without the incredible generosity of our partners, donors, and associates. Together, we are making a lasting difference, one student at a time. Every year at our annual Carr Cares Benefit Concert, supporting the Washington Jesuit Academy (WJA) and The Washington School for Girls, we have the privilege of hearing from an alum of each school. This year, we will hear from David Martinez-Ruiz, WJA Class of 2012, and Kennedy Walker, WSG Class of 2015. Did you catch Midtown Center's recent feature in The Washington Post? The article highlights how a few new D.C. buildings are breaking away from what architects call the “big dumb box” design. Designed by SHoP Architects, Midtown Center’s two mid-rise towers are connected by three sky bridges that cross a central plaza. As described by The Washington Post, "copper panels and fins along the building give it the appearance of a sea-formed crust. This green copper is patinated: pre-weathered with a film that occurs naturally with exposure to the elements."
