Congrats Jaymes Black!! ??
To our Trevor community: we are beyond thrilled to introduce you to The Trevor Project’s new CEO, Jaymes Black (they/she/he) ?? Jaymes is deeply committed to Trevor’s mission to end suicide among LGBTQ+ young people, and brings a diverse leadership background across both nonprofit and corporate sectors that aligns seamlessly with our values of Heart, Integrity, Community, Belonging, and Progress. In addition to their extensive professional accomplishments, Jaymes is making history as Trevor’s first Black, nonbinary, lesbian CEO. Growing up as a queer young person in South Texas, Jaymes’ unique lived experiences provide her with a nuanced understanding of the challenges that LGBTQ+ young people face today. Prior to joining The Trevor Project, Jaymes was the President & CEO of Family Equality, the leading national organization working to ensure that everyone has the freedom to find, form, and sustain their families by advancing LGBTQ+ equality through advocacy, support, storytelling, and education. We are overjoyed to have Jaymes at the helm as we enter this new chapter for The Trevor Project and continue to create a safer, more welcoming world for LGBTQ+ young people to thrive ??

July is BIPOC Mental Health Awareness Month — an important time to center the mental health and lived experiences of BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and People of Color) LGBTQ+ young people. Of course, one month of recognition will never be enough. For decades, BIPOC communities have faced systemic inequalities, structural racism, discrimination, and social injustices — all of which have profound impacts on mental health and livelihood. Injustice is a heavy and unnecessary burden to bear. This BIPOC Mental Health Awareness Month, it is essential to highlight the disparities that exist in access to mental health services among BIPOC communities. Research from our 2024 U.S. National Survey shows that Black and Latinx LGBTQ+ young people had higher rates of considering or attempting suicide in the last year than their white peers. That’s why we must continue to advocate for equitable resources and destigmatize both asking for and receiving help. As we also recognize Disability Pride Month this July, we uplift BIPOC folks with disabilities living beautiful, full lives — and acknowledge the additional barriers faced by folks with layers of marginalization. To help further these conversations and continue breaking down boundaries to mental health care, we wanted to provide a few resources that cater specifically to the needs of BIPOC and queer and trans BIPOC folks: ?? The LoveLand Foundation ?? National Queer and Trans Therapists of Color Network ?? Therapy for Latinx ?? Therapy for Queer People of Color ?? Black Trans Men, Inc. ?? Trans Lifeline ?? Black Line

It's Disability Pride Month! There is no such thing as a single-issue struggle, because we do not live single-issue lives. An estimated 3-5 Million LGBTQ people have disabilities. 2 in 5 transgender people have a disability. 1 in 4 LGB people have a disability. As we strive to uplift and empower all oppressed communities, recognizing the complex nature of intersectionality and forging inclusive spaces becomes imperative. Created in 2019 by Ann Magill, the Disability Pride Flag's multi-colored stripes represent various forms of disability. Green: deafness, blindness, and other sensory disabilities. ??Blue: psychiatric disabilities and mental illness. ?White: non-apparent, invisible, and undiagnosed disabilities. ??Gold: neurodivergence and cognitive and intellectual disabilities. ??Red: physical disabilities. These color categories are not conclusive nor mutually exclusive. They serve as a starting point, acknowledging that disability exists on a spectrum of both distinct and interconnected experiences. The Disability Pride Flag is a tribute to the diversity across the disability community and a reminder of what unites us.

A big thank you to Dr. Betsy Dahms for leading such impactful sessions to celebrate #PrideMonth here at Veris Insights! Co-leading the Queer Collective ERG has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my professional career. Abby Henderson - I am so grateful to do this work with you. Happy Pride everyone! ??
?? Last week, our Queer Collective ERG hosted a fantastic firm-wide training called "Veris Insights Proud: Trans 101" in celebration of #PrideMonth! ?? We were honored to have Dr. Betsy Dahms (they/them), Chief Diversity Officer at the University of West Georgia and a Safe Zone facilitator, lead the session. Dr. Dahms provided invaluable insights to help us become more comfortable and confident discussing LGBTQ+ rights, with a special focus on transgender and gender nonconforming (GNC) advocacy. Their practical examples of allyship tailored to our various workstreams were incredibly impactful and actionable. A huge thank you to Dr. Dahms for such an enlightening session, and to Queer Collective Co-Leads Abby Henderson and Delaney Paul for organizing this company-wide event. We’re proud to celebrate Pride Month with such meaningful initiatives! ?????? #BetteringTheWorldOfWork
