We are truly honored to be the Haymarket Gainesville Business Association (HGBA) chosen nonprofit for February. It was a wonderful opportunity to share how Virginia Women and Family Support Center is transforming lives for women and families. We loved meeting new faces, reconnecting with longtime supporters (like Dana Wright!), and feeling the incredible community spirit. A special thank you to our friends at Heroic Axe for hosting such an amazing event. We are so grateful for the support of our amazing community!

We are thrilled to share that the kitchen at Haymarket House?has been completely transformed, thanks to the generosity and dedication of Micron Technology! From day one, Micron employees?embraced this project with open hearts, dedicating countless volunteer hours?beyond their company’s benefit of 16 hours per year. They went above and beyond, handling every aspect of the renovation, from design planning and purchasing materials to putting in the hard work?to ensure every detail was completed with care and excellence. The Haymarket House holds a special place in our community’s history.?Built in the 1860s as a Civil War-era home, it originally provided shelter for missionaries. It has come full circle, serving as a safe haven for women and children overcoming homelessness. Through our housing-first program, up to seven women and their children?find stability, support, and a path toward independence within these walls. "From the moment Micron walked in our doors, they understood this project was about changing lives. Micron went beyond renovating the kitchen,?they created a space where mothers can cook with their children, share family meals, and begin rebuilding their lives”, said VAWFSC Executive Director, Frances Robin. This incredible transformation would not have been possible without Micron Technology’s generosity, dedication, and belief in our mission. Their unwavering commitment to giving back is a powerful example of how corporate-nonprofit partnerships can create lasting change in the lives of those who need it most. Our housing program improves birth outcomes. Our advocacy results in mothers spending less time in the hospital. Advocates are instrumental and present with our mothers during and after birth. Our program prioritizes mothers bonding time with their babies. Most importantly, mothers have a safe, stable home to bring their newborns to when they leave the hospital. Stable housing improves health outcomes for both mother and baby.
