?? Last week saw global markets navigating highs and lows amid escalating geopolitical tensions. The Dow Jones hit a record close (+1.96%), with the S&P 500 and Nasdaq each gaining ~1.7%, while the UK’s FTSE 100 surged 2.46%, driven by stronger-than-expected inflation at 2.3%. In contrast, the euro slumped to a two-year low as growth concerns gripped Europe, and Asia’s markets weakened, with Japan’s Nikkei down 0.93% and China’s Shanghai Composite falling 1.91%. Geopolitical risks intensified as nuclear rhetoric escalated between Russia and NATO allies, overshadowing President-elect Trump’s early cabinet nominations. Locally, South African inflation eased to 2.8%, prompting the SARB to cut rates by 25bp to 7.75%, while the JSE All Share Index gained over 2%, led by resource stocks (+5.34%) and a strong gold rally (+6%) as safe-haven assets rose. Beyond his professional and academic achievements, Stephen brings unique leadership experience as the former captain of the Namibian national cricket team. This background has honed his abilities in fostering teamwork, maintaining consistent performance, and achieving strategic objectives through discipline and dedication. In this key leadership role, Stephen will oversee our operations in Namibia, an important market that continues to be integral to our African growth strategy. This appointment reinforces the Carrick Wealth commitment to strengthening our presence across the continent, which includes Carrick Wealth Zimbabwe and Carrick Wealth Zambia, and delivering exceptional value to our stakeholders in the region. Our Namibian office serves as a vital hub in our African footprint, and Stephen's leadership will be instrumental in driving our continued success and expansion in the market.
