Standing with Western NC: Our Ongoing Relief Efforts! Our hearts remain with the communities in Western NC as they recover from the devastation of Hurricane Helene. The damage to homes, businesses, and infrastructure is immense, and we know the impact will be felt for years. Over the last two weeks, our staff, board, members, and partners have united in support through volunteerism and philanthropy. We’re inspired by the strength of our siblings in Western NC, and we’re committed to standing by your side through the recovery. Here’s how we’re helping: ??Contacting our Blue Ridge members and partners weekly to assist with their specific needs and provide support.?More than 65 chamber members across the region have been affected. ??Collaborating with local non-profits and their volunteers to ensure we are providing what is actually needed in the affected areas. ??Partnering with Hearts United for Good, Twirl to the World, and Hydration Station, providing essential items such as batteries, tarps, gas cans, Star Link Devices, washcloths, towels, and baby bottles for their weekly trucks and disbursement.?Huge thanks to Make a Move for providing trucks and transportation. ??Collecting donations at our ongoing events to assist with immediate needs in areas that are not receiving aid. ??Creating an information hub on our website with up-to-date information about donations, volunteering, unemployment resources, grants, FEMA, SBA, and other forms of aid. ??Working with local organizations to help small businesses access the internet and complete applications for disaster aid. ??Connecting community members and businesses to food and water access through coordinated efforts on the ground and with local chambers. ??Collaborating with state and local disaster agencies to effectively?communicate their relief efforts and make sure communities are aware of available resources. ??Active volunteerism among our board members and businesses to assist in those areas that are not receiving assistance.
