In the wake of Hurricane Helene’s devastation, BeLoved Asheville has been a lifeline for thousands in our community. Led by Amy Cantrell and Poncho Bermejo, the BeLoved team and its volunteers have been on the ground since day one, delivering essentials like food, clothing, and blankets to over 15,000 people every day. They’re prioritizing the communities that often need the most support—longstanding neighborhoods, mobile home communities, and other vulnerable groups impacted by the storm. Winter is approaching fast, and many are still without permanent shelter. BeLoved Asheville is working tirelessly to keep our neighbors safe and warm by distributing heaters, clothing, and even providing temporary shelter with RVs for those who need it most. Their affordable housing initiative, BeLoved Village, is on track to open by the end of the year, offering long-term stability for families in need. The response has been incredible, with donations coming from across the country to aid Western NC. But the need is still great—home repairs, rehousing, and essentials are critical as we move into winter. Our Carolina Mountain Sales Q3 2024 Market Report for Asheville and Buncombe County is now available. This report, capturing market data through September 30th, reflects Asheville’s real estate landscape leading up to Hurricane Helene. As of the third quarter, Median Sales Prices reached $427,795 (up 3.1% year-over-year), and Average Sales Prices climbed by 8.0% to $550,238. With a 34% increase in inventory, buyers found more opportunities, yet strong demand kept the market active. In the wake of Hurricane Helene, which arrived just days before the close of Q3, we understand that these figures may not fully capture the current realities many are facing.
