It was a privilege to answer a call from BEST NC: Business for Educational Success and Transformation in NC to moderate the State Superintendent of Public Instruction debate for North Carolina. Both, Democratic candidate, Mo Green and Republican candidate, Michele Morrow are contending for the Old North State's top education job. To be sure, during the almost hour-long debate both candidates shared passions and commitment to improving education and outcomes. What surprised many watching was, when given the opportunity to encourage and find some agreement, both candidates went in another direction. Thanks to Board Chair, Walter Mcdowell, CEO Brenda Berg, Leah Sutton, Zachary Hodges and the team at BEST NC for convening the event. For the complete debate: https://lnkd.in/eJYtJPW9
