Enriching lives since 1974

关于我们

As Hendersonville’s only Type-A LifeCare Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC), also known as a Life Plan Community, Carolina Village is proud to be a non-profit organization with a passion for delivering superior care for seniors within a beautiful, energetic community. Since opening in 1974, we have been considered a CCRC, meaning that we offer the full continuum of care from independent living to assisted living and skilled nursing right on campus and subsidized by our community. Our Board of Directors are all volunteers with a goal to reach our area’s senior community, to provide them with the peace of mind that we are here for them throughout their life. Dear Residents, Staff, and Friends of Carolina Village, If we've learned anything since Hurricane Helene hit Western North Carolina and the surrounding areas, it's the importance of relationships, of people helping people. It's truly staggering to realize how many people we've each come to know and love in these mountains and beyond, including you. Our campus sustained very minimal damage, especially compared to others around us. (Please see our Facebook post from Oct. 7 to see the drone footage of the damage around us. Our campus did not flood, despite Helene's terrible efforts.) We are working toward returning to a sense of normalcy -- without forgetting those suffering around us -- beginning Monday, October 14. But some team members were heavily, heartbreakingly affected. Several of you have asked how you can support Carolina Village team members in light of the losses sustained in the storm. Our Employee Appreciation Fund is always accepting donations for Carolina Village staff members to receive in December. But there is a more immediate need in the wake of this natural disaster. In response, we have created the Carolina Village Fund for Helping Employees Affected by Recent Trauma (HEART) as a way for anybody who wishes to give, to give to Carolina Village staff members in need. Donations to this fund will be used for Carolina Village staff member needs as a result of Hurricane Helene, other natural disasters, or traumatic events. - Donations to the Employee Appreciation Fund will be distributed to all Carolina Village staff members, except our CEO, based on hours worked Dec. 1, 2023 - Nov. 30, 2024. Send checks made payable to Carolina Village Employee Appreciation Fund to 600 Carolina Village Rd., Ste. Z Hendersonville, NC 28792 or Drop checks in the Employee Appreciation Fund boxes located by the Cashier Window and at nursing stations in our healthcare areas. Donations to this fund must be received by Dec. 1, 2024. - Donations to the Helping Employees Affected by Recent Trauma (H.E.A.R.T.) Fund will be distributed to Carolina Village staff members who have experienced a grave loss due to a natural disaster or other traumatic event, based on an application process overseen by our Board of Directors. Send checks made payable to Carolina Village HEART Fund to 600 Carolina Village Rd., Ste. Z Hendersonville, NC 28792 or Drop checks in the HEART Fund collection box located at the Concierge desk in Independent Living. Thank you for considering giving to both of these funds! The clouds have parted and the weather has been perfect fall mountain weather in the days following the storm -- thank goodness -- but people are in need. These funds are two possible ways to help our community team members, ones we hope you'll consider giving to. If you have questions about either fund, please do not hesitate to reach out to us. Thank you for your ongoing support, whatever forms it may take!

We are in contact with our colleagues in western North Carolina who are working hard to support not only their own residents and staff, but also other aging services providers in the area. We are hearing that staff have lost their own homes or their homes need significant repair. Grief is mixed with gratitude as we move forward together navigating the challenging path to recovery. As we coordinate supplies and services for members most impacted, your continued financial support is vital. Please consider a gift to the LeadingAge North Carolina Foundation Disaster Recovery Fund today to support member communities in North Carolina most affected: https://lnkd.in/egwvUj_W. #HelpHelene #HurricaneRelief #HeleneAid #SupportHelene #DisasterRelief #HurricaneHelene #HeleneUpdates #HurricaneNews

We are proud to announce that Renita McDougal has been elected to our Board of Directors. She began her term July 1. Renita retired in March from a 30-year investment advisor career with Wells Fargo Advisors in Hendersonville. She was also an educator and principal earlier in her career. She is a certified retirement planning counselor and a graduate of the University of Tennessee. “I know from years of working with clients who have been residents that the way of life, quality of care and services, and peace of mind {at Carolina Village} are a gift to the residents and their families,” McDougal said. “We are thrilled to welcome Renita to our Board of Directors,” said Trina Stokes, Carolina Village Board chair. “Her fresh perspective, innovative ideas, and excitement about our mission make her a valuable addition to our Board and the Village community as a whole. We look forward to the positive impact she will bring as we work together to enhance the lives of those we serve." Renita is also a Master Gardener and has worked tirelessly to restore her West Side Historic District 1903 classical revival home with her husband, Todd. The Carolina Village Board is a volunteer board comprised of local leaders who make Henderson County the vibrant, welcoming community that it is. To learn more, visit https://lnkd.in/gMZkePHJ.

The Dining Services team at Carolina Village was selected as the recipient of LeadingAge North Carolina's 2024 Service Excellence award. You want to know the know the recipe for planning five new dining venues in one year, each with its own menu, physical space, branding, and service level? Start with people-focused Dining Services leaders. Fold in one very flexible team, from front-of-house to back-of-house. Pour their heart and soul into the hard work of menu planning, equipment planning and training, storage logistics, and customer service. Mix things up with a few renovation pivots. Grate their nerves with some equipment delays. Spread them thin by the sheer magnitude of the project. Melt any pessimism by watching their sustained teamwork. Have folks grill them about when the new spaces will open and what the menus will be. Boil it all down to how we can best serve residents. Let it all simmer for several months. You’ll have the greatest Dining Services team you could ever “knead”. After several months of renovations, last fall the team unveiled the improved dining areas. This was a significant change from the Main Dining Room that Carolina Village had for years, and the small Bistro. The new venues include: - 74 Main: A traditional dining option with tableside service, featuring menu items such as Filet Mignon, Crabcakes, Chophouse Soup, Pots de Crème, and Pinot Grigio. - Silos: The fast-casual, order-at-the-counter-and-have-a-seat restaurant is a favorite for get-togethers with friends and family for a sandwich or, the favorite, a melt-in-your-mouth custom pizza. - The One-Legged Goose: The bar is named after one of the Village’s most popular residents, a goose who lost her leg to a snapping turtle many years ago. - Peaberries: With coffee, specialty drinks, and small bites available, residents and staff can choose between grab-and-go and sit-and-chat in the cozy coffeehouse-like nook neighboring the Fireplace Lounge. - Journeys: Not quite open yet, this venue is “destination dining”, where the physical space literally changes to match the menu at any given time. For example, if the cuisine is Chinese, diners will be overlooking the Great Wall thanks to technology. - Bearwallow Room: Like the previous Private Dining Room, this is a reservable room or overflow area. The team leaders accepted the award May 7 during LeadingAge North Carolina’s Annual Conference at the Grove Park Inn in Asheville. Photo: Kevin Parries

Our #ITteam is a lot of things - knowledgeable, industrious, responsive, helpful beyond measure, funny. But have you ever seen such a cool group of guys?! This year, this team did an enterprise-wide system update (whew!), launched a new electronic resident safety program, implemented new equipment in our renovated areas, upgraded existing equipment and systems, responded to countless resident work orders, and did about a million other things that kept campus tech running smoothly. We have the best - and coolest - I.T. team. #ItTakesAVillage #AppreciationPost
