Farming equates to food on our tables. We all need that food to thrive. But farming is hard work, and can be both risky and costly to farmers. We are here to help our farmers overcome their challenges, and bring bountiful, beautiful food to our plates. The Carolina Farm Trust originated out of an idea to take all the energy and money being poured into food and farming education, awareness, policy, lobbying, and litigation, and make an effort to start funneling these efforts down to small, community farmers in a more direct manner. Throughout the Carolinas, Carolina Farm Trust offers help to farmers with purchasing equipment, leasing or purchasing land, and in reaching customers through creative marketing campaigns. Carolina Farm Trust also puts on an annual food & music festival, called Carolina Jubilee, in Harmony, NC. The festival celebrates local food and music and aims to connect people in caring about the food that we eat.

The best thing I have heard all week is this podcast where Amy Rose talks to multiple really impactful forward thinkers at the recent Clinton Global Initiative meet. My ?? moment was by Zach Wyatt Carolina Farm Trust who spoke on the fact that food resilience is a global issue but it can't be solved globally. It has to be tackled regionally. Strengthening local food systems. Amy talked to Dr.Jane Goodall about individual contribution in this massive complex fight. Conversations regarding mental health, water waste, ocean plastic waste, poverty, conservation etc were had with the people who are leading the charge on the ground contributing their best to solving these challenges. "Food is a human right", expressed Congresswoman Alma Adams at yesterday's Carolina Farm Trust phase 1 activation event. Care Ring is looking forward to partnering with both CFT and Nourish Up in 2025, aiming to extend those we serve wholesome food options at our new location, where we will have a full food pantry. According to the USDA, food insecurity in North Carolina is at 10.7%. I am simply delighted that our community leaders have chosen to invest in local solutions to address food insecurity and strengthen local food systems in our area.
