Introducing the newest member of the Carlson Roofing team, David Duong! David joined Carlson in August of this year as an Environmental Health and Safety Manager. Prior to this, he worked in the health and safety field for 11 years—six years as a safety superintendent in commercial construction and most recently as a senior health and safety manager in the general industry field. As the EHS Manager, his main responsibilities include leading Carlson Roofing's employee and workplace health and safety programs and ensuring that all employees return home safely every day. When he's not working, David enjoys coaching his two kids and spending time camping, at the beach, or on the golf course.

It's almost back to school time! We're proud to have helped Newberg School District upgrade Mabel Rush Elementary School. We provided a full roof replacement on this complex structure with multiple roofing systems: Owens Corning Duration Shingles, Carlisle SynTec Systems Sure-FlexPVC membrane, Johns Manville 4-ply Built-up roof system.

It's good to get above it all every once and awhile and appreciate an accomplishment! In this case, we're looking down at the recently completed re-roof of 825 NE Multnomah, a tower in Portland's Lloyd District. We used Siplast 2 Ply SBS for this project.

We're excited to share that the first commercial structure in the world to be certified as a Living Building by the International Living Future Institute is right here in Portland. We were so pleased to be the roofing contractor on this project. We are excited to introduce Sam Sullivan, one of our newest employees at Carlson Roofing. Sam joined us in December and has since been serving as our estimator and project manager. Sam enjoys playing games together and exploring new places with his wife and two kids. Recently, they welcomed a dog to their family, and they have been spending a lot of time training and playing with him.

We are pleased to feature our estimator and project manager Mitch Wheelhouse! He has experience in leak detection and sheet metal and has been with us for about two years. Mitch loves spending his leisure time in the great outdoors, particularly at his family's cabin where he enjoys hunting and fishing. He is also the proud dad of two busy, funny, competitive little girls. He has been coaching their basketball team—a highlight of his experience as their parent.

We're thrilled to shine a light on one of our outstanding staff members, Tom Zeiner! Tom has served as a Project Manager at Carlson Roofing for two years. Tom's remarkable dedication and extensive background in roofing have greatly benefited the Carlson team. Tom has a passion for working on challenging projects and collaborating with partner industries. Outside of work, you can find him out cruising on a boat or shredding the slopes on a snowboard.

If you have stopped by our office, you have seen our company mascot Bella! Bella, the Labradoodle doggo, has been lending a paw to the team at Carlson Roofing since 2013, where she got her start as assistant receptionist. She quickly proved to be a versatile team member, with her contributions expanding to daily mail retrieval escort and stress relief director. In recognition of her essential presence in the day to day operations of our fast-paced office, we've promoted her to "CES", or Chief of Emotional Support. She has a sweet temper and is equally at ease receiving scratches behind the ears from new employees, office visitors, and long-time colleagues.
