Our morning at CARES kicked off with an inspiring session from Tobias Schmedding of Volkswagen Group on how they’re steering production to minimize environmental impact. Next, Francis Schimt (ArcelorMittal), Richard Caetano (Stellantis), and Thierry Destruhaut (PPG) presented on innovative sustainable e-coat solutions. Their holistic approach to coating processes showed how small changes can drive significant environmental gains. Tim Banik from BASF then introduced the powerful ‘Glass’ tool, which uses LCA evaluation and simulations to help design the most economical and sustainable paintshops—highlighting the future of data-driven sustainability in manufacturing. Julie Rabu (OPmobility) and Paul Mayhew (MBA Polymers UK Limited) discussed high-quality ELV recycling from bumper to bumper, paving the way for a circular economy model in automotive. Lastly, Eren A.
