?? Tips to Support those with Dementia this Thanksgiving ?? Thanksgiving is a beautiful time to connect with loved ones, especially those living with dementia. Use the senses to create meaningful moments this holiday: ??? Engage with Photos Share old photos and spark conversation with observations rather than questions: “Look at that apron—Mom wore it every Thanksgiving while making pies!” “Wow, that table was packed with food. Do you think that’s Aunt Sue’s famous stuffing in the middle?” These details can help them feel included without the pressure of recalling memories. ?? Engage Through Scents Thanksgiving is full of delicious aromas. Bring these to life with comments like: “Doesn’t that turkey smell so good? It reminds me of when we’d peek into the oven to see if it was done.” “That pumpkin pie smell—it’s like pure fall happiness.” ?? Savor the Flavors Taste can spark joy and connection. Try saying: “These cranberries have such a sweet and tart pop—I could eat the whole bowl!” “This stuffing is so savory—it makes me feel like I’m back in Grandma’s kitchen helping with dinner.” ?? Create a Cozy Atmosphere Use the environment to ground and comfort: “The house feels so warm and cozy, like we’re wrapped in a big hug.” “The golden candles on the table are so pretty—they make the room feel magical.” ??? Plan a Relaxation Space If the day becomes overstimulating, have a quiet, calm area ready with soft lighting, soothing music, or a familiar blanket. ?? Thanksgiving isn’t about perfection—it’s about connection. Use these little moments to bring warmth, comfort, and love to your loved one’s day. #ThanksgivingCare #DementiaSupport #CaregiverTips #CarePatrolCares #MemoryCare

NO COST service to help families evaluate assisted living, independent living, and memory care in Western & Central NY!
关于我们
We are a NO COST concierge service to our families to help them the through the overwhelming process of evaluating all senior living options. We appreciate that this can be a very difficult and emotional decision, and our services are provided in confidence and with compassion and empathy to help families through this challenging process. The owners utilize their extensive professional backgrounds in health care, law, social work and senior living to be able to effectively advise and counsel our clients in the decision making process. What Do We Do? We help families evaluate assisted living, independent living, memory care and in-home care in Western and Central New York. We carefully and regularly review the care violations of every provider in our territory to ensure that you are educated to be able to select the safest care options. We engage in a thorough review of our clients' medical and financial background to be able to recommend communities that meet our clients' care needs, financial requirements, and desired geographic location. We tour any prospective communities with our families and serve as an advocate for our clients when meeting with the communities. We connect and assist our clients with other senior care services (real estate, moving, financial planning, legal, etc.) to the extent necessary. We are there every step of the way through the move-in and continue to follow up with our clients even after they have been placed. Who is CarePatrol? CarePatrol was founded in 1993 by a social worker after observing the personal trauma experienced by a family whose loved one had been placed in the wrong type of facility, CarePatrol became the pioneer organization in the now thriving senior placement industry. Today, under the careful direction of that same founder, CarePatrol is helping families make safe choices all over America with over 150 locations across America.
