  • Yesterday, Carolyn Dowdy had the privilege to speak at another caregiver workshop on "Life Changing Strategies to Mitigate Burnout." Our group consisted of caregivers and family caregivers and supportive families and friends, and those interested in supporting our mission. We are so appreciative of Go Jen Go Foundation for sponsoring the event. They are a wonderful nonprofit who provide financial support for those with breast cancer. A big shout out to Emily Green for her unwavering support of our mission! #caregiverworkshop #mitigateburnout #burnout #familycaregivers #caregivers

  • It is World Down Syndrome Day! Did you know that research shows that families with a loved one who has Down syndrome often experience stronger bonds, greater resilience, and unique joy. Despite the challenges, many parents who are family caregivers report increased happiness, personal growth, and a deeper connection with their children? It’s a journey full of love, pride, and fulfillment! #DownSyndromeAwareness #FamilyLove #StrengthInAdversity #worlddownsyndromeday #WorldDownSyndromeDay2025

  • I bet you don’t know our founder was an alpaca farmer during her retirement before founding Caregiver Mental Wellness. It was one of the happiest chapters of her life. Before her husband’s stroke, she spent her days on our alpaca farm—raising animals, hosting community events, taking families and school kids on tours of the farm, and running a small store selling products made from the alpacas. She even delivered baby alpacas, or crias! Molly, her dog, protected the alpacas from coyotes, and her neighbors were an incredible support system. It was devastating to her to give up our Alpaca Haven Farm, her community-her support system, and animals. When they sold the farm, her dear Molly went to an Amish farm to protect sheep. She cried the most over leaving her dog. But through it all, she learned something valuable: do not take for granted the life you are currently living, your family, your kids, and the career you love. Enjoy every moment. Many times, working out on a job and caring for others, we try to please everyone, juggle endless responsibilities, and forget to prioritize what truly matters to us. We can't pour from an empty cup, and staying in a state of constant stress takes a toll on our health and happiness which leaves us empty for truly matters. Now, as I step into a new chapter, I’ve realized how important it is to focus on what truly nourishes us—our families, our well-being, and the moments that bring us joy. She has found joy in helping others and has realized, she has a calling and chapter in her life, a new journey, if you will, and she is committed to enjoying this journey and has gratitude for everything it brings. She prioritizes and takes care of herself while running the nonprofit and caring for her household and husband. So here’s her reminder be mindful of where you invest your time and energy. Fill your cup by self-care and being present.?Be present with those who matter most and enjoy the journey because it will keep changing, you will have new chapters. Enjoy the pictures of her previous?chapter in life on the alpaca farm. #LifeBalance #CaregiverWellness #Family #SelfCare #WellBeing #MentalHealth

  • Continuing to make our "unseen" caregiver seen in our communities and workplaces! Yesterday, our President, Carolyn Dowdy, I had the privilege of attending the Women in Business National Supplier Summit 2025, and it was an incredible experience! Huge kudos to “Dawn-Nicole” McIlwain for growing this amazing organization in just two years. She connected with so many businesses working to expand opportunities for women entrepreneurs, reconnect with familiar faces, and hear from inspiring speakers. One standout session was "The Power of Partnerships" by Ednethia Thomas, CSM Thomas – she was dynamic and captivating! She also ran into someone she truly admires, Jennifer Moxley, CEO of Sunshine Media Network. Besides running her own successful business, Jennifer works tirelessly to support the She Dreams in Color Foundation—her dedication is truly inspiring!?She Dreams in Color Foundation, a nonprofit provides free therapy. It was an incredible event, and she had the privilege of meeting so many accomplished women who are caring for aging parents or supporting loved ones with special needs, our family caregivers. We remain dedicated to raising awareness and support to provide educational programs for those who selflessly care for others every day!?

  • Caring for a loved one is rewarding, but it can leave you feeling drained. You may not call yourself a family caregiver, but if you are a daughter, son, spouse, partner, or parent caring for someone, you are a caregiver—and you deserve support. Join us for a self-care workshop sponsored by Go Jen Go, a non-profit organization that provides financial assistance to families affected by breast cancer. Our presenter, who cared part-time for her disabled father with cancer and a stroke while supporting her aging and ailing mother as a full-time caregiver, will share proven strategies for managing caregiver burnout. This workshop is not just about getting a massage, it is about learning practical ways to manage stress, reduce worry, and sustain your energy. Seating is limited, so register early and bring a fellow caregiver or loved one. Those who care for others typically put themselves last and do not prioritize their care. Caregiver burnout is a real thing. Contact a family member or friend who cares for others today and invite them to join you for this workshop. • Are you caring for someone in your family or a friend? Nearly 50% of people don’t realize they are family caregivers. Many don’t connect the responsibility of caring for a loved one with the term "caregiver," and some even think it only applies to healthcare workers. Whether it’s caring for someone with cancer, dementia, Alzheimer’s, autism, a chronic disease or aging parents, the responsibility—whether full-time or part-time—can take a real toll on your health. Family caregivers often give so much, but it’s important to recognize the impact it can have on their well-being when you are over extended trying to balance your life’s responsibilities. Balancing caregiving with work and daily life can lead to chronic stress, which may contribute to issues like depression, diabetes, and addiction to alcohol or prescription drugs. Caregiver burnout is a real thing! If you or someone you know is struggling with caregiver burnout, we’re here to help. Visit our website to sign up for our email list and get notified about upcoming virtual training on mitigating burnout, as well as in-person workshops in Cabarrus and Mecklenburg Counties. Please share this post with someone you know who is caring for others. Let’s spread awareness and support our caregivers together! Help us bring awareness! Our most vulnerable, our aging and kids are depending on us to support the ones that care for them! #family #caregivers #familycaregivers #burnout #wellbeing #selfcare #CabarrusCounty #MecklenburgCounty #chronicstress #aging #kids #dementia #stroke #cancer #autism

  • How can we fix what we don't acknowledge? Juggling the demands of caring for others while building a career is tough, and it’s a reality many of us face. We don’t want to seem like we’re complaining, be judged, or risk our career trajectory—so we stay silent. Whether you’re caring for aging parents, a special needs child, or supporting someone in your life, the emotional and physical toll is real. Caregiver burnout is real. It’s time we make it okay to say, “Yes, I am an amazing person who cares for others! Yes, I get tired, yes, I worry, yes, I want it all, and yes, I need to focus on my energy and prioritize myself—without guilt!” You may not be the one caring for others, but if you think about your co-workers, family, and friends, you know someone who is. Bring them with you to our caregivers’ workshop! Together, we can make the “unseen” seen and create a solution to support those who smile and say, “I’m fine” but may not be. Sign up for notifications on upcoming workshops by joining our email list at https://lnkd.in/e7Y9seGA and let’s start making a difference together. #WorkLifeBalance #Caregiving #MentalHealth #SelfCare #Wellbeing #Caregivers #WorkLifeHarmony #SupportingEachOther
