When Jenny became her mother's caregiver after a traumatic brain injury, the reality didn't fully sink in until months later: 'This is really her norm now.' Her advice for new caregivers resonates deeply with professionals balancing care responsibilities alongside careers: Recognize caregiver guilt as normal Understand challenging behaviors stem from the condition, not the person Connect with a dedicated caregiver community Advocate for your own self-care needs 'If I don't get this half a day [to myself], I'm not going to be able to do this.'
