It has been a few months, anyone wondering how Goodwill of North Georgia's Clean Tech AcceleratorTM has been going? AMAZING!!! We are ready to take it to scale! Yesterday, Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Administration for Children and Families (ACF) Jeff Hild (he wins the award for longest acronym BEFORE his name, PDAS HHS-ACF, and he has a great sense of humor about it) stopped by with members of his team to learn about our work and share some the administration's priorities. Genuinely engaged and kind people who spent time with our program participants in cohort 4 of the EVSE Field Tech program. Deserae Powell also inspired the current class as a successful graduate alum now working at Capital City Electric on EV charging stations as an Electrician Apprentice. So, the update? We are at 97% graduation rate, 100% certification rate, and 66% enrolled to placed rate (so far), with full-time jobs, with benefits and average starting wage at $43k! We enjoyed having HHS-ACF Ann Flagg, Larry Levi Sandigo, and Georgia Division of Family & Children Services Benjamin Arbise, MPH, CHES, SMQT, and Laura Beggs, along with partners from ChargerHelp! Evette Ellis, LISC Atlanta Dale Royal, Dominique Ellis, and Morehouse College Dr. Tiffany Rogers Bussey at our Goodwill Industries International Learn and Lead Lab. It was a whole coalition of the willing learning to replicate and scale this award-winning (Thanks CareerRise and Cinda Herndon-King!) coalition of Public Private Partners nationally. We had 20+ Goodwill mission leaders from all over the United States here in Atlanta, because Goodwill Goes Big on Good (And, as our board member, and Mayor Andre Dickens says, Atlanta is a group project and Atlanta influences everything.) And, of course, regionallywe are scaling very soon with our Metro Atlanta eXchange for Workforce Solutions (MAX) partners Atlanta Technical College, Dana Inman ACSS, Bobby Dodd Institute, all thanks to the incredible support of Atlanta Regional Commission, Accenture, Georgia Power Company Foundation, General Motors, the five Metro Atlanta WorkSource Georgia boards through Technical College System of Georgia WFD. #WhyGoodwill #CleanTechAccelerator #GoBigonGood #MissionImpact #WorkforceDevelopment #Teamworkmakesthedreamwork #PublicPrivatePartnership

Last night was truly magical! Together with Westside Works and CareerRise, we celebrated a decade of community based workforce initiatives that have transformed our city and members of the Westside community. If you are not familiar with Westside Works, it is a neighborhood-based workforce collaborative that increases accessibility to job training, education services, and career paths specifically for Atlanta’s westside community (Vine City, English Avenue, Bankhead, Oakland City, etc.) Although grateful and humbled to receive the Community Impact Award, the most rewarding moment of the night was hearing the testimonial of Mr. Ian Miller, the 2024 Legacy Award recipient. Learning about Westside Works while transitioning from incarceration and unsure of his path forward, Ian enrolled in the pre-apprenticeship Construction Ready program, began his career with Bryson Constructors as a general laborer and is currently a Sr. Field Engineer for Holder Construction managing multiple billion dollar projects nationwide. “Ten years of Westside Works, ten years of freedom, words cannot really describe my emotions and excitement of being recognized in a room full of my peers. Tonight, we recognize the hard work and time that has been poured back into our people and our communities and I want to thank Westside Works, Ms. Veda at Construction Ready, and Bryson Constructors for believing in my second chance,” said Ian Miller. Ian’s story is a testament of the importance of organizations like Westside Works and Construction Ready. The career opportunities in construction can be life-changing and we are proud to support ?their continuous efforts to improve the quality of life for Westside community residents and neighborhoods. #brysonconstructors #constructionready #liftingaswebuild #wearethewestside #NationalTradesmenDay
