Live Music Internship Alert: The Venue Nation Rotational Internship is a 12-week program designed to provide hands-on learning experiences for those who are interested in careers in live entertainment. The program will run June – August 2025 in 6 locations: New York City, Philadelphia, Chicago, Atlanta, Dallas, or San Diego. This is a paid, part-time position, up to 25 hours per week, in an office or venue setting that requires reliable transportation. ?? Alum Spotlight: Nathan Meyer - General Manager at Harmels on the Taylor ?? Nathan Meyer, MBA a 2023 graduate of the Outdoor Industry MBA at Western Colorado University, always knew he loved the outdoor industry and making an impact on others. “The OIMBA helped guide the direction I was going with my career,” he shares. “It helped me mesh these two interests by better understanding resort management and the outdoor hospitality industry. My capstone specifically gave me an opportunity to analytically research the industry and market I currently work in.” Nathan highlights the industry-specific knowledge that has been directly applicable to his life after Western. “The OIMBA provides a great opportunity to learn specific issues, values, and operations within our industry that may not be as applicable in other industries,” he says. “Learning about the ebbs and flows of seasonal businesses has been very beneficial for my current role at a seasonal resort.” Nathan’s advice to current and future students? "Utilize the student opportunities for 'real world' experience. Whether working with a business in your capstone project, competing in the Wright Collegiate Challenge, or networking with other professionals, the OIMBA provides a great opportunity to gain experience in the field you are looking to join or grow in. Grow close with your cohort and rely on each other through the process and beyond." It’s not too late to get a Summer 2025 internship (depending on your industry). We’re in the middle of Spring recruitment right now, almost at the final stretch. Last year, I saw a lot of companies hiring up until June. Remember, anything could happen: - someone can rescind their offer for another one - there could be a new opening on another team that pops up - a company finally gets approval for their internship program In college, I didn’t land my first Summer internship until April. Outdoor Industry MBA Winter Gathering Recap! This past weekend, Outdoor Industry MBA at Western Colorado University students came together in Gunnison and Crested Butte for an action-packed Winter Gathering! ????? Some highlights included: ?Attending Blister Summit's "Locals Day” ?Touring the Rady School of Engineering to explore industry-focused capstone projects and product labs ?Engaging with PACT Outdoors at the ICELab ?Hearing insights from our Alumni Panel, organized by Career Services Friday evening, students joined the Startup Colorado Roadtrip Event & Happy Hour at the Borick Business Building—an interactive session on funding education with Enterprise Colorado, founder-to-funder connections, and networking, in collaboration with the OIMBA program, Entrepreneurship Club, ICELab, Gunnison Chamber, and Startup Colorado. The weekend wrapped up with skiing at Crested Butte Mountain Resort and joining the Western Ski Weekend events!
