The contraction in gross hiring over the past ~3 years has been enormous - comparable in size to the Great Recession, albeit from a much higher/hotter (and probably unsustainable) base. From a jobseeker perspective "new job opportunities have dried up a lot" is totally accurate. And quits have also seen a Great-Recession-comparable decline as a result. (See chart in comments.) It is also true that we were lucky to start from such a strong base that we're in a much, much better state than at the Great Recession trough (see unindexed chart in comments.)

Why do mobile users get hired 30% faster? Attached are screenshots. My overall take away: Speed. When it comes to Indeed being the first to know and speed are what will boost your chances. What To Do: 1. Get your mobile app set up 2. Get your resume and profile ready 3. Have push notifications turned on Always feel free to ask the tools you use to search for jobs questions!

Job Search Tools & their personalities IMO: 1. Jobscan - Your very direct bestie. Tells you like it is, tough love that you need to hear. She's hard on you because she wants you to succeed. The process is complicated, but worth it for the results. 2. Resume Worded - Reliable and trustworthy friend with a gentle approach to feedback. Always picks up and is available to give you gentle quick advice when you need a friend ASAP! 3. LinkedIn - Your mom's friend. Someone with experience, but she's recently divorced and reinventing herself. The advice is edgy even cringe sometimes but works. 4. FlexJobs - The grown up version of the kid in school who hard carried the entire group project and got it done right and on time. 5. Upwork - The friend that is obsessed with DIY projects and has a magnificent house, but usually one room is in absolute mess and you usually laugh a lot, learn something and feel productive when you leave her house. These 5 solid and reliable tools to check out. Give them a try! Camile Gromowski Job Search Strategist
