October is National Disability Employment Awareness Month. It's a cause that is near and dear to us at Career Blazers. In 1949, Career Blazers founder Adele Lewis, in support of her sister, actively engaged in finding jobs for those with disabilites. Job Hunting for the Disabled, authored by Adele Lewis & Edith Marks, was published by Barron’s Educational Services in 1983. The book discusses the employment opportunities for disabled people and offers advice for the handicapped on job applications, resumes, and employment interviews. Forty years later, in 2023, disabled working-age adults still have lower employment rates than their non-disabled counterparts. Career Blazers advocates for those who need a strong voice in the staffing industry, helping to showcase the talents of those are disabled and their ability to contribute in the workplace. #jobhuntingforthedisabled #adelelewis #NDEAM

The Federal Trade Commission’s rule banning non-compete clauses in employee contracts was set to become effective on September 4, 2024. However, the ban remains in limbo, with the federal court for the Northern District of Texas ruling it unenforceable – for now. Nonprofits can’t afford to wait to see what happens.
