More than 400 people, including many women and children have been killed in Israeli strikes on various parts of Gaza, marking the collapse of the ceasefire two months after it went into effect. This recent escalation comes on the heels of Israel’s decision to block aid from entering Gaza on March 2. Critical lifesaving supplies are being prevented from reaching families. Medical equipment, tents, cooking gas, fuel for hospitals, water stations and trucks used to remove garbage are all being blocked. The level of destruction caused by Tropical #CycloneJude is truly frightening. I heard from our team in #Mozambique, led by Katia dos Santos Dias, that most of the bridges are gone, and the roads have been completely eroded. It's heart-wrenching to hear that we can no longer access #CaboDelgado by road as the bridge there has been washed away. This devastation is a stark reminder of the urgent need for continued support, resilience, and preparedness for disasters. CARE teams and partners are working tirelessly find ways to deliver #humanitarian assistance to people those are affected, but the challenges are immense.
