What could women do in a world #WithoutFear of gender-based violence? Go on a date, hike, run? For millions of women, these are not everyday freedoms—they’re risks. Just one of many sobering statistics, every 10 minutes a woman is killed at the hands of a partner or a close relative. It’s a world of fear. But it doesn’t have to be this way. #16Days https://ow.ly/TgjR50UgHo8

#Gaza: "The most immediate need without a shadow of doubt is a ceasefire, because we are unable to save lives and alleviate suffering when there is constant bombardment." - Deepmala Mahla, Ph. D, CARE Chief Humanitarian Officer #CeasefireNow

A new CARE report, The Cost of Inequality: Why the Global Economy Cannot Afford to Leave Women Behind, examines the global gender gap in the context of the future economy, revealing widening inequality for women and girls globally, and how this compromises growth and prosperity for all. “AI and the green economy have the potential to radically benefit society if we invest in women and girls. But if we leave women and girls behind, we will exacerbate the gap that is already holding the economy back." https://ow.ly/RWPz50UfmPw

The #COP29 climate finance deal falls short. While $300B annually triples past commitments, it's far below the $1.3T needed to help developing nations facing the worst of the #ClimateCrisis. No progress on phasing out fossil fuels either. https://ow.ly/nNTl50UesKg

So great to host The Coca-Cola Foundation team at CARE HQ last week! We’ve worked together for more than 30 years to respond to natural disasters in the US and around the world. It was exciting to see Foundation President Carlos Pagoaga model our newest collaboration, the innovative Emergency CARE Package – this lightweight, customizable backpack will be distributed in rapid-onset emergency settings with locally sourced shelter, water, kitchen, and hygiene kits to sustain a family of four for 30 days. Grateful for our longstanding partnership!

Today is #WorldToiletDay, and around 60% of the world's population does not have adequate access to a toilet in their home. Many are forced to go outdoors, which carries many health risks. Contact with human waste can cause diseases, including cholera, typhoid, hepatitis, polio, diarrhea, worm infestation and malnutrition. Let us continue to work towards a world where everyone has access to humane sanitation facilities.
