What an incredible week in Berlin! Over the past decade, Berlin has become Germany’s own Silicon Valley. It’s now the top-ranked startup ecosystem in the country, with over 500 startups and nearly 40,000 new businesses launching every year – the city is buzzing with entrepreneurial energy! To give you some perspective, last year, out of the six billion euros invested in German startups, a massive 39% (around 2.4 billion euros) went to startups in Berlin! This week, I had the amazing opportunity to speak at My Way Strategy Summit for Family Businesses (hosted by Gabor Steingart), where I talked about innovation and how Rosberg Ventures is helping to connect the best founders with Germany’s leading entrepreneurs. I also shared my thoughts on how venture capital drives innovation at the German Private Equity Summit, which is extra interesting when you consider the above stats! On top of that, I got to visit Cardino, one of the companies I’ve invested in, and we explored some game-changing ideas that could revolutionise the mobility space. Their platform is reshaping the European used EV market by connecting buyers and sellers with innovative tools tailored for electric vehicles. Their vision for the future is electrifying! The Big Review of Electric Vehicle Sales Globally ?? ?? We did a research on current trends, predictions and sales of EV globally and here is what we noticed: ? As of the end of 2023, the global fleet of Evs and PHEVs reached a significant milestone, totaling approximately 40 million units. ? Germany, a leading market in Europe for electric vehicles, saw an uptick in registrations, though the increase was modest at 17% year-over-year, significantly impacted by subsidy cuts. The abrupt end of electric vehicle subsidies in Germany, announced in December 2023 makes experts forecast a reduction of up to 200,000 in new electric car registrations next year. ? Plugin vehicles in China reached a 43% market share in March 2024, showcasing the rapid adoption and growth of EVs in the region. ?
