Dr. Kathleen (Kathy) M. Holland, MD, PA will be joining Cardinal Biologicals, Inc., as their new Chief Science Officer, as well as Medical Director, effective January 1, 2024. Dr. Holland was born in Albany, New York of Irish and Polish descent. She began her academic career in the Albany Public School System. After high school, she received her Bachelor of Science degree with a concentration in Anatomy and Physiology from Cornell University. She then began her doctoral program at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio, Texas with a pending application to Medical School. In July 1974 she was accepted to the medical program and became the first combined MD/PhD candidate at UTHSCSA. Her dissertation research was Electron Probe Microanalysis of Rat Gastric Mucosa, with the Effects of Bile and Ameliorating Effects of Vitamin E. After completing her Medical Degree, Dr. Holland was accepted for an internship in Pediatrics. She began her private practice in Kerrville, Texas where she practised for 32 years before retiring. During her time in Kerrville, she also practised hospital-based medicine as: ·???????On-call physician in Neonatology for 16 years in three local NICUs. ·???????Pediatric Medical Director for a Long-Term Acute Care Hospital for 3 years. ·???????Medical Director for an Adolescent Residential Treatment Center for 3 years. ·???????Pediatric Hospitalist for 3 years. In 2014 Dr. Holland “retired” again from medicine and began working with a local biologicals manufacturing company, eventually accepting the roles of QA Director, Science Officer and R&D Scientist. Her work led to the organization acquiring their ISO 13485 certification. Dr. Holland left the organization in 2022 to begin her consulting career as a certified ISO 13485 lead auditor, which is when she began consulting for Cardinal Biologicals, Inc. Also in 2022, she was appointed Executive Director of U.S. Operations for a ministry to Cameroon, Africa, ‘Bread for Life’, where she coordinates team missionary activities and oversees international accounting procedures.
